Howdy everyone.

I am American and my Girlfriend is Canadian. I live in Michigan she lives in the greater Toronto area. We've been dating for a little over three and a half years and have been going through the immigration process. The Montreal consulate received our Packet 3 about two weeks ago on March 7th. I just wanted to know how long people waited to receive the Packet 4 from them with the interview date and the medical exam information. Any information would be beneficial. This site has been great.

I don't remember the details but on my timeline I think it was like 4 days between packet 3 and 4. You can view other people's timelines.

I think you don't have to wait to physically receive packet 4 before you can schedule interview, etc...

If you haven't read this, it is really useful: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/327503-canada-immigration-k1-guide-for-montreal/

Good Luck... and hang in there...

We sent it over email as well as a paper copy. We have a lawyer, he said it usually takes about 6 weeks processing time once they received the Packet 3. So right now we're just waiting basically.

Mine was only 2 days after submitting the package 3.

You can schedule the appointment after you receive pck 4. Then u can go ahead for medical exam.

Mine took about 3 - 4 weeks after I sent them the packet 3 email. I actually emailed them and asked where it was about an hour after I sent it because I knew it would take them 3 weeks to get back to me. I wanted my bases covered. I ended up getting the email a few times...lol

Thank you guys for all the responses. Shelbym, how long did it take you to schedule the interview after?

Not that I'm speaking for her, but in my case I was able to schedule about 10 minutes after I got my P4 email. The determining factor is not when you get the email, but what appointment slots are open when you go to schedule. You may, to your dismay find there aren't any appointments available at all. In that case you simply have to keep checking back.

It took us a couple weeks to schedule the interview because nothing was available. Just keep checking back and snag the first one you can.

And, in my case, check semi-frequently to make sure the consulate didn't reschedule it for you :ranting:

But! I'm in Montreal right now for his interview on Friday, so it's all about to be worth it :)

So we got an email back from Montreal that said they did not receive our packet 3, even though we got confirmation that it arrived at the Consulate. Our lawyer also sent the packet 3 via email. Has anyone had this experience and is there any way to contact the consulate directly for matter like this. I am so utterly furious I cannot believe this entire process.

When you say that they received packet 3, do you mean that they received it from NVC and confirmed receipt? Did you then fill out the D160 online and submit the checklist via email? I remember reading that someone thought that as soon as NVC sends packet 3 to Consulate that they'll just wait for packet 4... not realizing that they had to complete the D160 form and checklist in order to get packet 4. Make sure that if you did fill out the D160 form and checklist to email it. Upon receiving packet 3, I completed the D160 and checklist and sent it in via email... I got my packet 4 within days (Vancouver consulate). If you have the confirmation and checklist, I would submit it again and follow up in a few days.
