Sorry to bother everyone again but I made a mistake on an earlier post.

So let me correct my mistake and lay out my case and see what I should be expecting.

1.Feb 27th 2014 NVC send me a IV processing Invoice

2.March 4th 2014 confirmation email was received of the payment

3. DS-260 was emailed and accepted at the NVC on March 5th 2014

4. I received an email stating that they had my form and needed my original civil documents.

5. I fedex'd them not EP'd that same day and they received them on March 6th.2014

So my questions are:

1. How long is the normal wait time until I receive a case complete email? I heard 20 business days?

2. After that email, will I receive another email stating our interview date in GUZ or will I have to go on CGI Stanley and set up my wife's interview?

3. Last question, does anyone know the current wait time for the interview to be scheduled?

Thanks Jerry & Shuhui

oops.

does your casefile start with GUZ or GZO ?

and what were yer thoughts about using Electronic Processing at NVC, since the casefile is headed to Guangzhou ?

Jerry & Shuhui:

Hope this helps! We also filed for IR/CR1 through Guangzhou and it appears that you're not far behind us in terms of timeline, so hopefully these dates will give you an idea of how much longer. The only difference is that we filed everything electronically instead of via hard copy.

(Our dates)

2/21/14 paid IV fee

2/26/14 filed DS 260 and supporting documents electronically

3/18/14 case complete (learned by calling NVC--did not receive email)

3/20/14 received email with appointment date

4/23/14 interview appointment

I'm not sure how the difference between electronic and hard copy will affect the dates. But don't think it should be substantial. Even though we filed electronically, they told us we had to wait for the civil documents to catch up with the 260.

Good Luck!

Xiang & Greg

ya, with no Electronic Processing at NVC for Guangzhou -

--once the case is complete it is shipped to China, where

--it will sit in a China Customs Warehouse (per treaty) for 1 to 4 months, then

--Guangzhou IV staff are allowed to retrieve it, then

--they open up the casefile , log it, and start a background check then

--the case is pitched into the scheduling queue then

--the case is scheduled by the IV Unit

Figure 1 to 2 months on the last 2 bits.

so, no EP? you will suffer a wait of 2 to 6 months before the interview is scheduled, then 20 to 45 days until the interview itself.

ok - so that's a paper casefile,

and you not successfully enroll in the optional Electronic Processing Stuff for Guangzhou, prior.

An online form (the DS-260) is not considered Electronic Processing - all Visa Applicants must submit this, irrespective of which Embassy the casefile is headed to.

Is possible to redo this, but you've gotten all of the stuff required already submitted. IF YOU MADE SCANS OF EVERYTHING SUBMITTED, you've a hope of being able to fulfill the EP requirements, but you'd still have to talk with a supervisor at NVC, ask for the casefile processing to be put on hold for two weeks whilst you hustle and enroll in EP.

I say talk with a supervisor (on the phone) at NVC, nowish, mention you want to shift to EP and ask the casefile be put on hold for two weeks, then report back what the supervisor says.

EP may or may not be a lot of extra work for you, depending on your level of skill with pdf file creation....

OTOH, a paperfile at Guangzhou does have a path, you can still choose to DO NOTHING at the moment....

I talked to a person at NVC. She told me that the case is already complete now and the interview will be set up in the next 3-7 business days. She told me my wife should have her interview scheduled for late April to the first week of May. They said I don't need to do EP. So that's good.

I have doubt about what you hear from the nvc operator.

Normally, for other countries, it is true. Since it is end of month, secheduling of interview will start from this week.

For GUZ, as long as I know, P4 will not be given until GUZ IV unit receives your case. Then you can self-schedule your interview date.

How long will it take for the mail to be received? It depends. From records in the past three months, all mails were received in three weeks. The fast one was only 6 days. Unfortunately, there is one package from last month, whilch miss sort of paperwork, waiting to be cleared by the custom. Even unfortunately, all the late mails come to the custom, have to wait for that one to be cleared first. So there is a significant delay at the moment.

I hope what you heard would be true. Keep post your status here.

Our case was listed as complete on 3/22. Called NVC today and was told case file was scheduled to be mailed on Friday. Too late for EP. I think I'm screwed with all the delays at customs I doubt we hear anything for months. Is there a way to track the package and see when it arrives in China. I wish I would have found this forum before I decided not to opt in for EP.

Yes you can. Search DHL tracking in this forum. Or I can find it out for you.

Currently, there are 7 big packages waiting to be picked up by GUZ but who knows when they will decide to pick up?! Sooner is possible; to be honest though, add 9 weeks from now for the P4.
