It would not vary by Consulate.

Is there anyone from Ukraine with experience in this that can comment if they stamp your passport or not?

Maybe her friends are confusing being denied a visa and being denied entry?

October 29th 2000: She sends me e-mail asking if I would marry her

October 29th 2000(5 seconds later): I say yes

November 2000: She sends me tickets to Orlando for when I get back

December 6th 2000: Return from Bos

December 11th 2000: Fly to Orlando, she meets me at airport

December 22nd 2000: I fly back to UK

January 3rd 2001: She flies to UK (Good times)

Mid February 2001: Pregnancy test Positive

Mid February 2001: She flies back to US

March 2001: Miscarriage, I fly to US on first flight I can get

May 2001: I leave US before my 90 days are up

June 2001: I fly back to US, stopped at airport for questioning as I had only just left

September 2001: Pregnancy test Positive again

September 2001: She falls sick, I make decision to stay to look after her as I am afraid I may have problems getting back in.

April 16th 2002: Our son is born, we start getting stuff together for his passport

March 6th 2003: We leave US for UK as family

Early April 2003: Family troubles make her return to US, I ask Embassy in London about possibilities of returning to US

April 16th 2003: London Embassy informs me that I will be banned from the Visa Waiver Program for 10 years, my little boys first birthday

This is exactly what she said to me verbatim that her friends at the Greek Embassy told her, "That if you want to go to other European countries and are denied they will put a red stamp on your passport."

I replied to her, "Well what did they say about the US, because Europe isn't the US". She said, "I don't know just that it's likely that this will happen".

So I guess they're just speculating?

This is absolutely the case.

OP, I want to strongly urge you not to include the letter you wrote, it is an almost absolute guarantee that they will deny based on the use of 'girlfriend' alone.

I whole-heatedly agree with jclink. Do not include the letter, and do not use girlfriend/boyfriend. In the unlikely chance she is going to get the visa, she has to do completely on her own merit and not someone, especially a significant other, vouching for her. This comes literally straight out of the mouth of a Consulate associate of mine. Worst thing you can do.

In fact, that letter is almost word for word (minus country changes and details) from the letter I wrote for my wivf's attempted visa back in the day! Totally denied and the reason I went to the consulate associate and found this website afterwards... had no idea, thought I was making her request legit, and was basically told her denial was helped by me.

I think the Greek people are confusing this with a Schengen visa/shengen zone.

They will ask her a few question and she will be honest, that's all. The interview will probably be much shorter than she expects.

Sorry Jekt; you can always try again. Some people have reported success with the second attempt even with the same documents.

She said the interview was about 5 minutes long, through a plexiglass window as if she was visiting someone in prison. Her passport was not stamped.

She also said that he didn't even take the time to look at a single document other than her Ukrainian passport. He asked where will you be going, why do you want to go, who will pay for your travel expenses, and are you a student?

She explained that she wants to go to New York to practice english language, since she is a translation and philologist (linguist) major, as well as learn about the culture, see the city, and go to famous museums. She explained that she will be paying for the her travel expenses. When he asked what year is she in school and she replied her 4th year, thats when she said she got a bad feeling from his demeanor. She interpreted his body language, and tone as if "oh so you're pretty much done with school". She said she didn't have the opportunity to explain that she will be going before school finishes so she will need to come back to actually finish her final exams and graduate.

She also has just recently got a new job which pays very well for ukraine at the Greek Embassy. LIterally today was her first day. Do you think this will bear any weight, have any positive affect if she decides to reapply later on this summer?

She said she will be getting paid 400 Euros per month, which is insanely high pay in Ukraine at the moment. She said she will also be applying for a Masters Program there. I don't know... I guess we'll see... I wanted her to apply for a masters program here. I will be starting a Physician Assistant Program in September and I won't have time like I used to, so I really wanted her to be here, at least for a few months to figure things out.
