filing for an overstayed parent who is currently in the US

Good afternoon, can someone let me know if I will be able to file for my mother without consulting an attorney. I am a US citizen, I am currently unemployed. I know I have to forms the I-458 and I-190. Is there someone who have been in a similar situation.

I supposed you mean filing I-130 and I-485. And you need to file I-864 Affidavit of Support too.

If you are currently unemployed, you need to have a co-sponsor for I-864.

As Merrytooth mentioned, you need to have the means to back up the I-864 affidavit of support. You or a cosponsor will need to prove you have the income to keep your mother off of federal means tested benefits and can support them once they arrive. Who ever does this is on the hook for ten years if your mother ever does get means tested benefits.
