Aborted babies incinerated to heat UK hospitals

  1. 1. What do you think about using the bodies of aborted and/or miscarried babies as fuel?

    • I'm comfortable with it. Life begins at birth, not conception, so those 'bodies' are nothing more than useful sources of fuel as far as I'm concerned.
    • I'm not comfortable with it. Life begins at conception or some point soon after but well before birth. Those remains deserve the same respect and consideration given to the remains of babies who die at or shortly after birth.
  2. 2. 15,500 fetal remains were incinerated by 27 NHS trusts over the last two years.

    • That's over FIVE TIMES as many lives lost in the 9/11 attacks.
    • They're fetal remains, who cares?

People have never given miscarriages funerals in the whole of human history. It does not yet have a gender, so it is an it. You can imagine how I feel about it all day if it makes you feel better.

Will someone think of the miscarriages!

In the Buddhist tradition, babies that are miscarried, lost, or still born are souls that are only one step away from Nirvana (the Buddhist idea of heaven, where all souls go when they’ve completed their journey on earth). All those souls needed were to be wanted and loved one last time and they get to move on

Jizo Ceremony for Children

The loss of an infant or child often opens a well of profound grief. No matter how the child dies, suddenly or slowly, whether through illness, sudden infant death, accident, miscarriage, abortion or suicide, our sorrow is deep and may be long-lasting.

To help families and friends in their process of grief, we honor their lost children by participating in a ceremony in the Jizo Bodhisattva remembrance garden. Jizo Bodhisattva is regarded as a caretaker of women, travelers, and children who have died.

We will spend time making a personal memorial for our child, by writing a message, making a simple toy or necklace, or sewing a small garment. There will be materials available, but you may wish to bring scissors, thread and needle and a small piece of red cloth. Many people also bring a picture of the child or other personal token of remembrance. These memorials are left on the Jizo statues. Families and friends are welcome to revisit the garden any time.

The ceremony is very simple, and done in silence.

There is no charge and anyone of any religious affiliation is welcome.

You seem to be unable to read. That is not a funeral where you do something with the "body." It is a ceremony where you deal with grief and sadness over the loss of a pregnancy.

Hey guys! I had a termination in the UK so I can tell you my experience. They advised me that the matter would be incinerated, and they asked me if I was okay with that. I said yep, no problem. When I had an operation a few years later to have a decayed lymph node removed, the doctors never spoke to me about what was going to happen to the extracted matter, so in my experience yeah, they're a little more sensitive about terminations.

Yeah sorry I was hammered by noon yesterday. I don't even remember posting that.

I immediately thought the same thing, about how to extract energy from burning flesh, it might well mean capturing the energy used to incinerate rather than just let it escape.

This whole subject is a little strange in that if we accept that unborn humans have no value... what does it matter how the bodies are dealt with?

Any society which allows the destroying of such life (void of any compelling justification) should certainly not be expected to treat the remains with dignity.

Oh whatever Danno.

So what is the difference between cremation and incineration? Isn't one a subset of the other?

I agree with you there. No point in having a funeral every time I rub one out in the shower or my wife flushes her tampon down the toilet.

What is the difference between a landfill and a grave yard?

If your wife has embryos found on her tampon, I suggest something very unusual is going on there.

and if you can create life all by yourself with just a bar of soap in the shower, you are ripe to start your own religion.
