Hi!

I'm applying for AOS after getting married this past Thursday March 20th, 2014 to a USC.

I came to the US as a student in 2007 to Florida then got into another school in Philadelphia to complete a 4 year undergraduate program in 2008 and have been here ever since. I did my OPT year and my EAD was valid from 7/30/12 to 7/29/13.

At that point I decided to apply for an O-1 Visa at the very end of the OPT grace period which was, according to my lawyer, 9/27/13. I wasn't qualified to get the O-1 Visa at the moment (I'm a musician) even though there was a chance but, after careful consideration, I decided to withdraw the application since my lawyer had advised me that a withdrawal might look better on my record than getting declined. This all happened on 1/29/14.

So, my plan B was to get married... My lawyer said it was much cheaper and faster to go through the whole process while I was still in the US even if I shouldn't technically be here. She mentioned that if I was to go back to Mexico to get a K-1 visa I might be stuck there for up to a year and I can't really afford to be away for that long.

Now that all was said and done I'm filling out the required forms and I'm wondering what I should write in the "Current Immigration Status" field.

Also, am I going to be in trouble for not changing my address 10 days after I moved? I really forgot to do that...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!

OK I've got another question:

During my OPT period I had a day job as a dog walker. I am a musician so, in the beginning I really needed a complimentary income to make ends meet. Obviously I was working in my field but most gigs actually paid in cash and I didn't get a steady teaching job until 6 months into my OPT period.

I paid taxes on this dog walking job so I can't really omit it right? I was thinking I wouldn't mention it on the application/interview but, is this gonna hurt me more than help me? I know I compromised my F-1 status, however I wasn't just dog walking during my OPT it just took a little bit of time until I could pay all of my bills working in the music field.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!
