We can no longer call the Dept of State for immigrant visa queries

I finally grew tired of checking the CEAC website for application status and ALWAYS getting an error message. I mean it happens every time I check... Only once, back in December, did I get a valid status update. And of course you cannot call the GZO consulate. The final insult is that email inquiries to the consulate routinely get answered by canned responses. Useless. So I finally decided to call the D of S, wait on hold, to discuss my case. Imagine my surprise when I was told that the D of S longer answers immigrant visa application queries (the policy changed about 1 1/2 months ago). She directed me to the NVC or the consulate. Even more useless -- with no where to turn.

Call NVC, punch option 3 on the AVR.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
