Evidence for reestablishing domicile

Wondering if this is enough, and if some of it is even relevant.

-Two credit union accounts statements with my US address

-One retirement fund account statement with my US address

-One investment fund account statement with US address

-Current driver's license

-Lease drawn up to live with my mom (does this need to be official or notarized or anything?)

For voting I have an old voter ID card with an address in my home state, but different from all the other addresses. I don't know if I can/should use it since the address is not correct. I also have the form and emails to the absentee ballot people requesting my absentee ballots for the past years and marked as "US citizen residing abroad and planning to return" that I thought I could send in.

Possibles-

-Library card? (again, for another city, not the one I plan on returning to)

-SCUBA license?

-Store credit card? (which I can't figure out how to print out a statement with my address since I haven't used the card in ages)

-Inquiry about renewing my teaching license?

-Purchase of my mom's car?

Here is a two part domicile to do's. To maintain and to reestablish. You need more evidence.

I, XXXX, am currently residing in FOREIGN COUNTRY with my spouse, SPOUSE'S NAME. Below you will find a list of attached documents to show that my principle residence is in the US and the steps that I have taken to return to the US with my family.

Steps taken to maintain US Domicile:

• Maintained my XXXX voter registration

• Maintained my XXXX credit card registered in the US with a US PO box

• Maintained my bank account at the XXXX Credit Union

• Maintained my bank account at XXXX Bank

• Maintained my XXXX drivers license

• Maintained my US retirement fund through XXXX

• Maintained my US investment account with XXXX

• Maintained my US PO box

• Maintained licensure by the XXXX

• Maintained membership in the XXXX

• Maintained my automobile in care of my parents

Supporting Documents for the above steps I have taken:

• Voter registration card showing permanent US address

• XXXX credit card statement showing US billing address

• XXXX Credit Union statement showing permanent US address

• XXXX Bank statement showing permanent US address

• XXXX drivers license showing permanent US address

• Retirement fund statement showing permanent US address

• Mutual fund statement showing permanent US address

• XXXX license currently up to date

• Renewal of XXXX membership

• County tax bill showing I still own a vehicle

Steps taken to return to the US to take up residence:

• Made arrangements for us to have a house to live in

• Contacted schools for requirements of things to bring to register my children in school

• Contacted my auto insurance company to find out about re-instating my insurance on my car

• Contacted shipping company for estimate of costs to ship belongings

Supporting documents for the above steps I have taken:

• Lease agreement for our house

• Email from schools regarding registration requirements

• Email from my former auto insurance company regarding my inquiry

• Email from XXXX with estimate and correspondence regarding shipping our belongings

I declare that I intend in good faith to re-establish my domicile in the United States no later than the date of spouse's admission into the US.

I certify under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States that the statements in this letter and all accompanying evidence are true and correct.

And do I need to pick either "maintained domicile" or "plan to reestablish domicile"? Or can I have evidences of both?

I don't have kids and I don't plan on shipping anything back. Should I get quotes for a shipping company anyways?

I got an online quote for car insurance.

I can try to get one for a shipping company even though we won't be shipping anything.

Would this then be enough?

Job offers anything showing you are setting up a home in US. And yes I would have moms lease notarized just because.

Car insurance, health whatever you can get the more the merrier and you can always get a new voters registration card. get the cable put in your name something.

You can go to http://www.lawdepot.com/contracts/residential-lease/ and create and print a lease, it looks much more legit than an agreement. It will only cost you like $5.00, if I remember correctly you basically sign up for the service and on the same day cancelled it. Good luck! We are dealing with the same thing and have our interview on April 8th.

pick one path or the other -

do not attempt to mix the two

as

it confuses the Vice-Consuls,

so they take the harder path each time,

and try to prove-up based on attempt , your attempt, in showing that you maintained USA Domicile.

I am including both, since I moved to Canada I have maintained domicile by keeping multiple accounts, voter reg, student loans, etc... I have also taken steps to re-establish domicile fully by signing a lease, excepting a job, selling our house in Canada. I feel like it is better to cover all of the bases but that is just my opinion.

or a yearly tax invoice on the house in USA?

if no to either, you not maintain a domicile (per DoS standards)

I currently rent a condo in the US as of Jan of this year, all of the bills are paid by my landlord and are included in my rent but yes I do get mail there. Since Jan I have been going back and forth while waiting for my husband and children to come when able.
