Dear fellow Vjers,

I'm putting the papers together for my ROC application. I ran across this piece of document given by a police officer to both my spouse and me at the time, when the police were called following an incident of domestic violence.

I'd like to know what kind of document it is, i mean there must be a name for it, it's not a report, it's not a receipt, i don't know what it is.

Please have a look at the attached file and tell me what it is.

I'm sorry for the crossed out parts.

Thank you.

Your post is not clear to me.

So police officer gave a doc to you both at the time when police was called for domestic violence.

Who reported the police that he/she was facing domestic violence?

When police gave you doc, they did not say anything that why were they giving it to you and to whom?

Thanks, Flora, for the response.

By the way, who called the police and who assaulted whom don't really matter. I'm not going to claim VAWA, I just want to know the name of the document, what kind of document it is. By paying it a look, perhaps someone will have an idea.

By answering my questions you will get the answers to your questions actually.

By my common sense looking at the doc i can say that somebody called police claiming he/she is facing domestic violence.

When police came he/she dropped charges saying now everything is fine between them.

The question is if police already got your information at that time then they registered case and they have information on file.i don't know in that case what you wanna conclude coming over here and asking what it is.

Since police have registered case against USC/spouse (which is not clear) when you will file for I751 it will come in background check.

If police did not get any information and don't have anything on file, then its not clear to me why are you concerned what doc it is.

So you can conclude whether it is related to ROC or not and what it is by knowing whose name is on this doc, whom is it given, what did police say when they gave it and whether police got any information against anybody while giving it. B-)

I am sure there are more wiser people here who will come out with better suggestion in the case of missing information. :)

This is a document given by police to potential victims to advise them of warrant procedures and other resources in the event they want to seek protection and/or charges. Sometimes this advise is given verbally, sometimes such a document as you have shown is given to the potential victim and sometimes the potential victim is asked to sign that they received it, though they do not need to.

The alleged perpetrator may or may not have been arrested - this cannot be determined from this document. Such advise on warrant procedures would be given regardless.
