Hi Everyone....sorry if this sounds likei am stressing over the small stuff ,....but ...in anticipation of the NVC sending stuff to UK - once i got NOA2 confirmed i sent off for police certificate - i got letter frompolice advising to expect the certificate by 20/1.....today i get home and find i have a police certificate.

My concern is that it states "in reply to your request for information that may be held about you by Lincolnshire police on computers in following categories...Person Record : prosecution / conviction...." my concern is that a full check hasnt been done - or i have the wrong type of certificate???

Anyone can confirm they got the same...my alarm bell went off when they were specific with county -i was expecting something more in line with ALL areas had been checked ( areas meaning the whole of the uk databases)... It Does have the two blue bands

All advice appreciated

The UK police certificate is largely unimpressive looking. And prosecutions and convictions is what DOS is looking for imformation about, so the 'right databases' have been searched.

I'm sure you have the right document.

And for point of clarification, not all UK police certs have the blue bands. The Northern Ireland police certification looks almost like a business letter.

(I am by no means an expert on police certificates as I was on here panicking about mine the other week!)

This is what mine says (not that I've had my interview yet or even got the NOA2, but I've been reassured this is the right police certificate!), if that's any help:

"Dear Sir/Madam,

Section 7, Data Protection Act, 1998 - Subject Access

In reply to your request for information that may be held about you by the Metropolitan Police on computers in the following categories:-

Person Record: Prosecution/Conviction

The Data Protection Act [....blah, blah, blah....]

From the personal details suppplied in your request, there is no information held about you in the Person Record category of the Police National Computer.

If you requested any categories not shown above the Metropolitan Police will send you a separate reply.

Yours faithfully, blahblahblah"

So, after all that typing... sounds like that's what you've got, except yours mentions Lincolnshire Police instead of the Met... I think so long as it says they've checked the Police National Computer, it should be the right one! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

That is the correct Metropolitan Police one, but other constabularies may have different wording.

D'oh - good point. I am confusing myself here, anyway - I was thinking they all came from Scotland Yard so would have the same wording, but obviously not. Ignore me, Truffles!

Thank you one and all...i think the police authority who you send it to will differ according to where you submitted the request - and it sounds like i got the one i need.....many thanks - i guess i will have these light headed moments all the way through this - at the moment i am awaiting packet three - so my immediate panic is the medical. Everytime i have a coughing fit my first thought is TB !!!

Many Thanks y'all :)

I love this thread. Because apparently Ad got his police report a few days ago and didn't tell me because he didn't think it was the right thing, but its worded exactly like featherB's post. So now I'm really really relieved.

They all go THROUGH Scotland Yard, as that is where the main database is held, but the information is then sent back to the originating police constabulary who issue the certificate.

FeatherB, I get confused at the best of times, don't worry about it! :D

Most UKers have a TB innoculation at 15; if you had one...you can stop panicking y'know! ;)

Yay - glad my rather pointless post to Truffles turned out to be some use to someone after all! I was convinced I must have the wrong kind of certificate, but after I posted on here fretting about it, Mags confirmed that it had the right info - thanks Mags!

Ahhh, I get it now - I'd got the idea into my head that each constabulary sent the request to Scotland Yard and that they issued the certificate - like I said, easily confused! Thanks for clearing that one up - finally I get it! :D
