Hi - we filled our I-130 January 3rd and I saw my check was cashed the following week in Chicago. Now it's getting to the end of March and my husband hasn't recieved a NOA1 at all.

We can't check the status of it since we don't have a number (that I guess you get with the NOA1).

Is this normal processing time? I thought people got the NOA1 right away?

Thank you for the help! This is probably easy to answer, but I'm still confused on the exact process durations.

My husband filed his application on March 10, 2014 and we received a text and email stating that they received my husband's application on March 12, 2014 and on March 20, 2014 my husband received the hard copy. The petitioner should call them and ask. If you are the petitioner call them.

Hi, I am no expert on this, but no it is not a normal processing time. You should call them and alert them something is wrong. If you look at other people's timeline here you can see they usually have their NOA1 within a week unless there is a long holiday that comes between. Yes, your case number comes with the receipt/NOA1. Call them as soon as possible is my thoughts to you. If they cashed the check they should be able to trace your petition.

*** Moving from K3, as the op is asking about the I-130, to CR-1 progress reports *****

No that is not normal. You usually get the hard copy within 2 weeks, 3 at the most, after the check is cashed.

Did your husband sign up for electronic notifications?

Do you have a copy of the packet he sent and if so, can you double check the address?

Thanks all - we will call them. Yes, the address is correct - we have copies of the packet. We did sign up for electronic notifications, but haven't received anything.... but they cashed the check

We never received hard copy of NOA1 either. Lot of people don't for some reason. If you cheque s been cashed, it means they have accepted your case for processing. Do you have online banking? Most of the banks these days provide scanned copy of cheque once it's cashed, and USCIS writes case# behind the cheque when they cash it. That way you can get your case# by checking image of cheque from your bank.

Another option is to write to lockboxsupport@dhs.gov or call uscis and talk to tier 2. Give them Alien number of US citizen and they should be able to pull out records of all immigration petitions by that person.

It's semi-normal to not get a hard copy, but they did the G1145 and didn't even get an email or text. That is weird. It indicates either a) USCIS has for some reason not logged their petition into the system at all despite taking the money, b) They wrote down both their email and phone number wrong/illegibly, or c) USCIS' systems just didn't create any kind of communication for them like some kind of glitch.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".
