Yup money talks bs walks. Most poor communities have very little representation at any level of government local, state or federal. They don't have the money or resources to fight where these waste facilities and toxic dumps are placed. It's even worse on an international level where in some countries there are very few restrictions.

So it's not really racism, is it? Maybe poor people getting taken advantage of?

You speak as though the Chinese have chosen to live in those circumstances for the benefits it will bring to their backbones and for character development rather than by the oppression of their own government who denies them a voice with which to complain. They have no choice but to shut up and move on with their lives.

Obviously you haven't been to China recently. Currently they are kicking economical #######, and I've met very few Chinese who didn't openly express themselves in public. If you want to see an outspoken people, lose the stigma you've attached to the people of China and learn how to separate government from the individual. 0bama doesn't define me, and you know what? Chinese people know that. It's really damned amazing.

I wish Thais would wise up. They think I have an unlimited supply of money because I'm American.

China isn't much different in that regard. It's probably because they see so many foreigners who travel there with the attitude that society owes them a living and should pave their way with yellow bricks.

No you were talking about environment racism as practiced by Koch industries and not as a broad stroke. I said it is maybe the most heavily regulated industry because it is. I know this for a fact because it was my job to satisfy the Feds and try to mitigate the fines forthcoming. The scholarly material you presented had nothing to do with the topic at hand. I was surprised you even brought that material as I remember it so well. Koch industries does not practice environmental racism. Never has. They were my biggest client out of my Corpus Christi, tx lab office.

We don't have anymore to discuss because there is nothing to discuss unless you actually bring something to the table for discussion. Too bad they don't toss Reid some campaign funds. That would shut him up. Reid is all about the money as we saw with Obamacare.

If you read what I originally wrote, you will see I was talking about environmental racism in broad terms as it exists and you dismissed what I said as non-existent. You said that it is the most federally regulated industry and therefore it does not exist. I present you with scholarly material on the subject. So I don't know what more we have to discuss.

No seems like you're just trying to pick a fight with me. I thought you were more intelligent than that.

I ask questions, I don't pick fights. <_<

And if you can't state an opinion without slighting the person you're referring to, it is you who seems to want to pick a fight.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

You are wasting your time if you believe information and rationale discussion will help you explain the obvious.

Remember that education is overrated, and until something like this happens on my backyard, it is someone else's problem.

That is a very astute statement. Stop & consider - for a moment. We the people are indeed pawns. & derisive politics leads us here. Kudos Gegel. Now....a smaller gov is the first step to empowerment. Take it. Help bring power back to the States where it belongs.

I will believe the cockamamie notion to which you subscribe when people start risking their lives to flee America to China in search of freedom and opportunities, for them and their families.

The Chinese that are kicking economical ####### [sic] are the oligarchs in the large cities, who have a taste of personal wealth. In the rice fields you mentioned, the peasants are still living under the same political circumstances of the past. Again, they have no representation other than the regional leader of representative, whose power with the central government is limited.

I understand there seems to be a need for many foreigners to depict American under unfavorable light. It is a phenomenon associated with immigration and experienced not only in America. Many resent our country for the very same reasons they are here: nowhere would nor could they achieve similar success or be afforded the similar opportunities. They resent their adopted country is infinitely better to them than the motherland.

To be sure, but in reality it is so much better in China... LOL. Edited by Gegel

Here is my original post:

"Environmental racism has always been an overlooked issue by politicians bc it usually affects only poor people with no voice."

Why don't you go back and quote it and show me where I said it was practiced by Koch industries. It was the original article that stated Koch industries got slapped with a fine and that the city was predominately Black and Latino with the mention of environmental racism.

I still stand by what I said. The followup material was based on you and others denial that environmental racism exists. In fact if I was trying to defend whether or not Koch industries practice environmental racism I would have provided evidence via sources to show that, but I did not.

I don't know anything about you or your work, how would I know ? Look it's cool you made a mistake, you jumped the gun. Forget about it....but don't lie on me and try and manipulate the facts.

It's interesting how conservatives and people on the Right within the last decade or so have really come to hate America. First it stems from their distrust of the government, but their rhetoric has kind of gone past a healthy criticism of government to down right hatred for this country and siding with people like Putin or communist China against our own country and president.

It is laughable that the same minority who claims the POTUS wants to destroy our country are the same who praise the likes of Putin, all the while looking up to Russia and China, as models for America.
