Funny observation

I'm not saying anyone is lacking any mental tools or anything, but I find it funny how we all answer everyone's questions with such confidence and then when it's our turn to go to the interview we melt down and ask what seems to be the most simple question. We see the headlights and like a deer, we're frozen and we panic hoping everything is in order, wondering what we may have forgotten. I didn't notice this until it happened to me few weeks ago.

That being said, I again want to thank everyone for all of your advice/encouragement and prayers. I don't know how much more I'll be posting in this thread as I'm in a holding patern for 39 days before I bring my fiancee home and about 55 days until we're married. I'm sure I'll ask more POE/customs/tax questions in the next few weeks that will sound pretty silly at times.

That's funny jg and oh so true. I think that's human nature though don't you? It's easier to see things with clarity and certainty when we're not standing knee-deep in it.

Hey, jg, I also noticed how calm we are answering other's questions, but as soon as it's our turn, we put on our Stupid Hats. This is called a case of nerves!

COMPLETELY agree with this post I am feeling pretty confident now, spent the holidays sorting through paperwork and sending it back with my fiance. Of course, a few days before interview time, I am sure I will be in panic mode!!!

I'm not normally a paranoid person, but this whole process has made me paranoid and neurotic!

I can't imagine people filing without the help of forums like this and going soley by the USCIS form instructions... there's so much that isn't covered on those.

I had to laugh at this thread because it described me and my husband so darn well! It's like standing in line watching everyone else, all the while feeling calm cool and collected ourselves and then....BAM! It's our turn and all of a sudden we're all weak kneed and like a baby needing to be soothed by it's momma. Oh yeah...I can definately relate!

I think I had my first feeling of "non-confidence" when something I totally hadn't thought of, was brought up on this board. Then it was time to ponder if I really did know what I was doing!

Then the questions began. hehe

On the other hand, I also worried myself into a frenzy sometimes when it wasn't needed from having read something on this board!

I hear ya. I'm nothing but a puddle right now - and normally I can see things quite clearly. My brain has definitely gone on vacation. Hope it comes back in time for that interview.

17 days till my interview. I wasn't feeling overly prepared or calm to begin with. Now I'm freaking out. Few days before the interview I will likely be found in a corner babbling incoherently to myself.

I think the worrying and 2nd guessing has a bit to do with how much this means to each and every one of us. If the end goal wasn't so damned important......ya know.

This is true, the sooner you get to that interview date, the more you start to shake at the knees and second-guess everything. I have no idea how many panic attacks I had last week thinking I'd suddenly lost my birth certificate or checklist when I couldn't find it in ten seconds. By the time Geoffrey and I were sitting in the K1 interview room we were nearly peeing ourselves with anxiety. As soon as we walked out of the consulate afterward, all we could do was simply look at each other and laugh in disbelief over how completely we'd gotten ourselves worked up while waiting for that interview, all for such a short and simple question-session. I think we both felt like we had been unfairly cheated out of our sanity (Geoff claims he lost 3 months of his life waiting there, over hardly anything). In retrospect though, I feel like I was better prepared for anything, even if I did have to become totally neurotic to feel that way.

Yep same situation here. I have my final interview today and was all up last night photocopying more documents to support our marriage, how we've lived together etc since being married and we still are, going over all the civics questions. Reading about how some interviews they are asked for even more documentation etc. Been going ahhhhh for this day. Well 15 mins later it was done with, didn't even ask me for anything since they already had the information he said (from the mail in N-400). Can't even remember the civics questions, but it was pretty quick and fast and I think I was on autopilot.

It's all about the anxiety of stressing for the deadly interviews though. And reading other peoples negative experiences really get ourselves even more paniced then normal.

I mean it was kind of funny he asked how many times my wife has been married and I confidently replied none, he looked at me and smirked and said "she's never been married?", I'm like oh ####### yeah once to me and he laughed. If I had not read all these forums on other boards of peoples experiences I might have been better off ha ha.

Then again, I also might not have been prepared enough. I ended up bringing in way more then what was needed. The interviewer said it's better then not having enough.

So is it worth the months and weeks of stress to come out of these things going, "That was it?"...

I totally agree with this. Everyone else I see and read about and say "Oh, there is absolutely no reason to not be approved! You'll be fine." But when it comes to my case, which is ridiculously straight-forward, I freak out about every little t and i I have to cross and dot. And not only if I've crossed and dotted them all, but if I've crossed and dotted them in the right direction, with the right ink, and while holding my left foot in the air and chanting.

Sigh.
