I was vegetarian for 10 years but just decided to go vegan, have wanted to for years but this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UROxRLbVils was the kicker for me. Any other vegans here? we can share food ideas and tips :) Id also like to hear what converted you guys.

and please no "you need meat to survive" rants as we both know that isn't true and clearly the vegans aren't dying lol

The one thing I would note, whilst I am not a vegan, is please don't stop using honey!

Bees are disappearing at the moment and our globe will be in trouble if they do. A good beekeeper (go to a local farmer's market for your honey so you can get to know your beekeeper) will not harm the bees or take so much honey that he or she puts the bees in danger.

A beekeeper, however, will offer up protection to the hive and ensure the hive has a food source, which is important to keeping pollenation happening and making sure that plants maintain their diversity.

Beekeepers are good for bees!

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

March 13, 2014 Married!

May 9, 2014: Petition mailed to USCIS

May 12, 2014: NOA1.
October 27, 2014: NOA2. (5 months, 2 weeks, 1 day after NOA1)
October 31, 2014: USCIS ships file to NVC (five days after NOA2) Happy Halloween for us!

November 18, 2014: NVC receives our case (22 days after NOA2)

December 17, 2014: NVC generates case number (50 days after NOA2)

December 19, 2014: Receive AOS bill, DS-261. Submit DS-261 (52 days after NOA2)

December 20, 2014: Pay AOS Fee

January 7, 2015: Receive, pay IV Fee

January 10, 2015: Complete DS-260

January 11, 2015: Send AOS package and Civil Documents
March 23, 2015: Case Complete at NVC. (70 days from when they received docs to CC)

May 6, 2015: Interview at Montréal APPROVED!

May 11, 2015: Visa in hand! One year less one day from NOA1.

I don't understand why most vegans don't eat honey at all, the bees do it by choice and are completely free so don't worry Il still be eating honey just no eggs, meat, dairy, other random animal byproducts

My sister has just announced she's gone "vegan". I give her a week.

did she eat a lot of meat previously? when I first went veggie at 15 I had a couple relapses but trying is a good start atleast so she should be commended for trying. is it for diet or ethical reasons or both do you know?

She eats meat all the time. Honestly I think she's just trying to rebel and do something "different" for attention. She's 19 and pretty overweight. I think she thinks by going "vegan" and "gluten-free" will help her lose weight. However, she continues to smoke, drink and not exercise...so I'm 110% sure she will fail at this.

I don't mind eating vegetarian at times. When The Husband wasn't here, I was usually too lazy to cook for myself, so I ate a lot of veggies and hummus, fruit, and pasta. I could never live without cheese though, as it pairs perfectly with me being a wino.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

I will miss cheese eggs n chocolate but I just couldn't carry on after seein the footage I saw. yeh goin from that kind of lifestyle to vegan will not be easy! she most likely will fail especially if not doin for ethical reasons

I will try and watch the presentation in full, but I think there is something to be said about genetics and what is good for you personally as a human being. People should really try and stick to their ancestral diets to maximize their health, in my opinion. For me, that happens to include eggs and meat. My family has raised chickens for at least 1000 years (my last name actually pertains to this) and raised sheep for at least a few hundred to no detriment of my family. We are actually from a climate in which grains were in much shorter supply and actually worse for us than eggs, for example.

I did go Vegan for a while after watching one of these documentaries about how animal products were causing cancer and killing us and just generally bad. Unfortunately, even after 6+ months of eating a healthy vegan diet, I did lose weight but I was still tired pretty much 24/7 and I lost a ton of muscle mass despite eating a lot of protein rich veggies. I regret that experiment very much.
