Just double checking the facts about the Employ. Auth. Card

My wife received her Employment Authorization Card yesterday.

Under the Terms and Conditions it reads : None

On the bottom of the card it reads: Serves as I-512 Advance Parole

Expiration: About a year from now.

I know this card:

Grants her the legal right to work

The I-485 (AOS) is still pending

This is a 'combo card' that allows her to travel and re-enter into the United States while the I-485 is pending

Question:

She is considered a permanent resident and not a conditional resident, correct? (No to be confused with 'citizen')

This question might have to get re-posted in the social security number thread:

When we applied for her SS# it was too late to have her last name shown on the card as my last name. Can we now have her name changed on the SS# card to my last name with this card? The card does show her new (my) last name correctly.

Thanks

She is NOT YET a permanent resident of any type. She will only be a permanent resident once she gets her Greencard. She is an EAD holder.

She can probably change her name on her SSN with the EAD if she gets a SS employee who knows what's going on.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

We can work legally here but not a permanent resident yet until we have our GC.

She can change it with her EAD however it will take 2-3 weeks to get her new SS card with the same number like mine.. Or maybe yours is sooner than mine.

SS will still contact USCIS for verification since our AOS process is pending.
