Tourist Visa for my Dad and little sister

Hello! I am planning to petition my mother who is in the Philippines to come to the US. I want my dad to go with her through a tourist visa so he can also see how my mom's life here is going to be. My dad is a vice mayor of our town and he has some descent business, how are the chances of my dad getting approved for a tourist visa? Also, if he takes my 7 year old sister so she can see Disneyland and comes back to the Phils with my dad, what are her chances too? Thank you.

As long as he is able to show strong ties (work, family, property, business interests etc.) then his chances are pretty good. It also helps to have a history of travel (and returning) prior to applying for the B2. Your dad and your sister can both apply at the same time if they're planning to travel together. It is usually easier to get approved if you are applying as a family as opposed to applying alone. I got my first tourist visa with my family as a minor and there was no problem applying and getting approved.

One thing from the interviewing officer's perspective -- there are no derivatives for children of IR-5s. So, trying to bring your 7-yr-old sister in on a tourist visa when her mother is entering on an immigrant visa......not likely.

E = 1/ MC2, where 'E' is the Estimated chance of visa approval; MC = Mind Change factor squared. the VO computes 'E' by taking in to consideration the probability of a Mind Change upon arrival in the US....those who have an American BF or GF have a MC factor of about 99.5, so the higher the MC factor, then the estimated issuance rate is inversely proportional to the probability of the Mind Change (at least, sounds good!)
