Hi guys, I will be headed over to England in 18 days to visit my fiancé for two weeks. I have never been to England, or flown internationally on my own, always had family or school guides with me. Can someone give me some insight on what it's like? I'm slightly worried when I know I shouldn't be. I will be flying into Manchester also. What's customs like? Etc.

Drive on the other side of the road.

Use the letter "u".

Listen to our beautiful accents.

Avoid Wolverhampton.

Nothing to worry about. I just say I am visiting my fiancé, he asked if I am planning to move to him or him to me and that was all. I am here now so I just went through it. Everything went very smoothly and you have nothing to worry of. Save travels and enjoy your trip!

I actually flew into Manchester last year around the same time to see my then fiance now husband so I can totally understand the flying alone for the first time feeling. Well in all honesty the best advice I can give you at customs and don't lie and bring a warm waterproof jacket :) Also please be sure to enjoy yourself :P

I see you're flying into Manchester, so you should probably bear in mind that in the U.K. things are the opposite of the U.S. in terms of where the backward, 6-toed, retards live - in the U.K. they live in the North. ;-)

Or any other town that ends in "hampton"

Especially Southampton.

They have outposts down south in Swindon and Plymouth though!

Make sure you know his address for the landing card. My then fiancee visited about 5 times over 2 years never an issue.

I flew into Manchester the first time I visited too. Customs was generally friendly, but they did give me a stern warning to "not get married" whilst I was there. The airport itself is easy to navigate. You should be fine. :)

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

Upon leaving the airport either head south immediately or try to make your way east over the Penines as soon as possible.

If you're heading north try to avoid stopping until at least Cumbria.

Don't let the shiny things at the Trafford Centre distract you, it's like the pretty petals on a venus flytrap.

Note the correct spelling of centre.

Don't worry about the local dialect, no one understands the Mancs, they like it that way.

If you're heading west make sure you veer southwards before entering the Peoples Republic of Liverpool. Just because.

Although that would mean heading into the lands of the strange druidic folk known as the Welsh.

If you find yourself there don't try to mimic the accent, outsiders can never get it right.

Whatever you do NEVER try to pronounce the place names as they are spelt. Down that path madness lies, the human vocal chords are not capable of such feats.

Above all, enjoy the UK
