question about the DS230 addresses since age 16...

Here is what the document is asking for: "List below all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16, including places in your country of nationality.

Begin with your present residence."

Here is my question: if the person filling out the form traveled back and forth between multiple countries for more than a year, but didn't stay in any one place longer than the 6 months consecutively, does he or she need to mention traveling in those countries? Can they just put their permanent residence in their home country, and then pick it up again with the next residence he or she lived at for over 6 months? And also, do they need to get a police certificate for any of those countries if they didn't stay in the country for more than 6 months consecutively, but were there off and on for more than a year? Between hostiles, and other places to stay, like boarding houses, there are a TON of addresses, and I can't imagine remembering them all. Can you/should you obtain a police certificate for a country you visited long-term, as a preemptive measure, even if you didn't live there for the required amount of time, in consecutive months, especially if you worked in those countries at all?

This scenario is causing a lot of stress, and any answers from people who have experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

Why are you filling out a DS-230? Did you receive specific instructions from your consulate to do so? You should only need to fill out the DS-160. The DS-160 replaced all other DS forms last Oct. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html#6

Ooops. I feel like I have "research overload." It's the DS160 I'm asking about. I looked at your link. Do we no longer need the addresses since age 16?

What about the police cert for a country you traveled in for more than 6 months, non-consecutively, but were not a resident of? Should we get that, or is that unnecessary? Any advice is appreciated!!

Sometimes the info here is outdated, especially on the consulate info pages because those are edited and added to by VJ members. Says the page was last updated in July 2013, before the DS-160 replaced the other forms. http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Ireland&cty=Dublin

So, once you go through the process, you could help others out by editing that page and listing the current process and requirements for your consulate.

You need a police certificate from everywhere you lived/resided for 6 months or more. If you were just visiting and were not there for 6 months, then no need for a police certificate.
