My wife lost her green card, but we found it--the problem is...

Good afternon everybody,

I misplaced my wife's green card, so I immediately applied for another, thinking that we lost it permanently. However, I found it the day AFTER I sent in all the paperwork. I called USCIS and they told me to write a written letter to the filing office to void the application, which I did promptly.

The problem is that my wife and our daughter went out of the country for personal purposes yesterday, and we're still getting notifications that our process is still live. Does that mean that the current green card she has is no longer valid, and would she not be allowed back in to the country?

Call USCIS again and ask to talk to a Tier 2 IO but the problem is there that they can only speak to the applicant ie. your wife so she would need to call or at least be on the line.

PS. in future make sure your wife carries her GC at all times, it should be in her purse right with her credit cards etc, it isn't like a passport that you put in a bedside table, you must carry your GC with you.
