I guess we are giving the dog 15 days to improve her ears with a different antibiotic and different ear drops and upping her painkiller dose. The vet would have put her down today but was more comfortable trying a last effort and so I am. Also I guess she didn't want to dissect her and send her brain off to the state lab on account of some regulation about a dog being put down within 14 days of biting someone needs to be tested for rabies.

:( She's been pretty much a walking corpse for a while, so unless her quality of life dramatically improves...

I am so sorry Nola....it must be hard watching her....we were visiting some family up in Cleveland a while back and they had a dog pretty much in the same state....when she sat on my lap and looked up at me I could have cried for days....I always said that if the puppy suffers then ending it is best. Good luck *virtual hugs* and I hope she gets better.

How old is she Troph?

12, I think, which is old for a big dog.

Yeah, its been like that for the past year at least. Every time I look at her, I just wonder how long is it going to take for her to die. I know it sounds morbid, but she's been holding on and holding on. None of us thought she would ever live to be this old.

In better news, at least my mother has ordered most of the stuff for the bathroom remodel that the Dane is doing for her.

I remember my dog Nik, he had been sick for a while. One day he waited for me to return home, he whined. I held him in my arms, he looked at me to say goodbye. Then he passed away. he was 16.

His son, in 2010. Also 16, I had decided to put him down, I held him in my arms all morning, fed him his favorite peanut butter. And ice cream....Took him to the vet.

It's still hard for me to talk about it. It's hard saying goodbye.

And I swore to them that I'll never get another dog. That's why my daughter will have to find her own fateful doggy friend.

This is what she picked out for the walls, accent tile, and then the backsplash.

Yeah, I'm not sure I want another dog between the work involved and this type of stuff, I've got enough on my plate!

I love dogs and they are cute, but in the span of the past 6 years, I've lost the Basett Hound, had a cat run away and get presumably eaten, had to put another cat down, and then this.

that's not bad...

It isn't bad, the wall and the floor tile are marble, but it just isn't my taste, which is fine because it isn't my bathroom.

I know what you mean...I would not have picked it either but I wouldn't say "yuck" if I saw it somewhere in a bathroom - so it works :)
