my dog ...she just spent 45 mins outside barking and would not come inside unless I got her...she was cold and shivering but sat there until I came out......first and last time I do this..../mini rant over

Dog wins again. Tomorrow the dog will also win, as Jada lacks alpha dog genes.

Electrician went out to the house this morning and no official quote, but the word expensive was certainly used. Unfortunately seller's realtor was there and heard him mention pulling just a ground wire as a cheaper alternative. *facepalm* How the heck does that solve the fire issue from the knob and tube? Hmmmmmm? And why would you not just pull all new Romex if you are pulling a grounding wire?

Also not going to cut it for our insurance company.

You're dealing with northern Minnesota hicks now. Electrician is a brother cousin to the seller, but marriage and blood. You know how much copper sells for lately?

You're worth 9 mil?

Do you need a house cleaner?

And sorry to hear that things aren't going that well. I'm sure in time (however long that takes depends on the woman) she will come around.

Has she found a job yet?

The other big thing that's bothering me -

is that a husband leaving (for a Chinese person) is a big sign of abandonment,

and I'm not abandoning her.

I've a group of Chinese buddies here that have been talking to her, telling her what huge mistakes she's making, but mostly, she's making new Chinese friends that support her point of view...

It's turned into a 'my gang will kick your gang's @Ss' sort of brawl, and I don't play well in that arena. Blood, Gore, no thank you, I'll be elsewhere.

I thought she was coming around 2 weeks after I hired the PA and the PA went over the portfolio with her, then showed her how to clean a western kitchen. Oh well. Silly me. Lots of reversion ..

Still, I'm confident that her Mum will shake the stupid out of her. I don't understand this behavior, really, as she not exhibit it when I lived with her in China. No, that's not right. I DO UNDERSTAND THIS BEHAVIOR, and I refuse to cater to it. I really thought her having a PA (personal assistant, 25 hours/week, native Beijing lass with great English skills) to show her stuff and drive her around and take my instructions (the PA, not the wife) would be a godsend, but except for 2 brief moments, it's not been a godsend at all. Heck, I even thought having her new friends over for cooking weekends would be a great thing, but apparently these new friends are f'ing clueless for how things work in the USA as well, so I've a collection of dolts in my house that need to be elsewhere. Sorta like Steve's Collection of Gumps, 'cept the ones at my house leave when told so to do.

and it's not a language problem, either, as I hold my own with the mandarin...

as to your query of needing a housecleaner - uh - no. My other digs are rustic and I keep the floors absolutely spotless, as I use the mud room attached to the house, daily.

If she had exhibited all this stuff recently, within the last 2 weeks, I might chalk it up to her being pregnant. But it started three weeks after I hired the PA, so I can't attribute it to any wild and crazy hormone imbalance.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

 my cauliflower overboiled..2x trying to read your post /mini rant over

To be honest it feels to me that she just needs time to get on board with stuff. It is different living in your own country with someone and then all of a sudden be somewhere else on their terms so to speak. It will get better....you clearly did all you could to make her move as smooth as possible so now it is her turn to make it work it out in her own head ...hoping her mother will knock some sense into her also.

Give it time and in the meantime rant away....imo.

but hey - next time, 3 or 4 years, try for twins ! it's fun ! ;)

Twins would be fun but again I quit 6 kids is enough for me. Plus I'm not 18 anymore.

You'll change your mind in a couple years as soon as you smell a fresh made baby again.

Nope not changing my mind. I will wait for grandchildren.

Ranting is good keeps you from saying things out loud and backwards. I do a lot of backwards venting, it's fun cause well I get more mad.

Isn't it weird that if your grandchildren are slightly younger than your own toddlers?

How would they address each other, with such a small age gap?

Hope you had a prenup.

I don't think it is that weird. I have cousins older than my mother and my uncles served in WWII (and I'm 27!). My second cousins are actually more my age, if not older.

Hope you had a prenup.

Yup. and a postnup. Plus the majority of my money is in an estate, heck I can't even touch it directly. The estate rules in the charter are clear about not being divisible during any divorce proceedings.
