What is the advantage of OCI over Indian visa?

I found that they give multiple visa for 10 years for about $160 and cost for OCI is about $285

My US passport expires in 2022 so at that time I have to apply for OCI again even though they claim its life time.

So, why should not I just get visa for 10 years?

what is the advantage of OCI status? compared to 10 years multiple entry visa?

Thanks in advance...

For Indian visa you have to come back after 6 months, can't stay more than 6 months and wait for 1 month here to go back.OCI you can stay lifelong,no need to come back but can come back any time.

Only people born in India can apply for OCI.

Aslo they should not have any relation with 7 countries listed on Indian website,i think-Afganistan,Iran,Pakistan,Sri lanks,Bangladesh two more i don't remember.

Any relation means their spouse ,parents or any near relative should not belong to or born in these countries.

With OCI you can buy land and live like Indian native in India(can't vote).

Go though Indian consulate website for more information.smile.png
