Eligibility for Healthcare>permanent resident

I'm in WA state. Anyone else having a problem with their eligibility with healthcare? I'm a permanent resident. I used my Alien # and Receipt number as my proof of ID. Based on the info I provided, I'm not eligible.

Also, I make too much, apparently. My household income in 2013 was $70K. My husband and I make equal income and he doesn't even need coverage as he gets it from his employer. His employer pay for them for free. I looked at the chart and i should be eligible.

I am interested in this as well - my husband should be moving here in the next couple of months and I am trying to make sure we do this right. Kind of the same situation, household income is too high to get any subsidy or tax benefit - i have insurance through my work....but when I add him the premiums triple. But if he just uses what his income will be when he gets here, by himself he would qualify for the programs for people under 400% of the poverty level.

I am not clear why I do not qualify. The rep did say I am "supposed" to report household income, but if I tell her I only make half of what the household income is, she will enter the amount I tell her.

You qualify or not based household income. If you try to game the system by under reporting household income ( only reporting your individual ) you may be found guilty of fraud and that will cause trouble for your status in the US. NEVER lie to the government.

I guess my real question is - do I need to be "eligible for health premium tax credit" to purchase the health plans offered?

OK after waiting almost 2 hours on the phone with the exchange, I am eligible for health care, but just have to pay more b/c our household income is high. Which means, we are not eligible for a tax credit or medicaid. which is fine b/c i expected it.

I'm confused about this part. When I spoke to a rep, they told me that as my mother in law (only source of income right now) isn't applying for coverage, we should put ours as 0. Our insurance agent who is doing our application for us also said the same thing.

As long as you are living in the same home as your direct relative you combine incomes as a household. If you want to use only your own incomes go out a rent a room from some one ( I bet you it is more than what you would get in medical insurance reductions)

You should be able to get coverage as a spouse through your husband's employer, depending on the employer - but most will offer it.

It asks you to claim certain people and not others, such as dependents and a TAX household. See directly on the website the people you should and should NOT declare on your application. For us, we live with his mom who lists him as a dependent and files her own separate tax returns, so she should not be included on our application. This is what a representative for the Marketplace told us as well.

Thanks for confirming - that is what I thought too. But for sure wanted to explore all the options

Just got our Anthem Blue Cross insurance cards in the mail. My USC fiancé and I qualified for the Affordable Health Care insurance because he was on sabbatical and unemployed for the past year, even though he will be looking for jobs in April 2014.
