I find most contemporary Christian music really boring. But it's cuz I hardly like any contemporary music---neither secular nor christian.

I do listen to a lot of Christian music, but more underground stuff that unfortunately gets no air time on Christian stations. I like a lot of indie rock groups that are christian bands. Also I like a couple r&b and hip hop christian groups. For me to like it a lot, tt's either gotta rock or else make me want to dance around. I do like praise and worship though, the best kind I like is if it's kind of hippy styled or else like black gospel.

OH my gosh!!!!!! I hardly ever meet people outside my lil world who even know about The Violet Burning!!! That's so awesome....:D:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Guess what?!! they are playing a concert at our church this Sunday night, I LOVE them!!! They played at our church about a year ago, and then last month the singer Michael Pritzl was in town doing an acoustic tour and was at our church. Our church is really small, but they still come! Too bad you live incredibly far from here! (like on the opposite side of the USA)

That's awesome! I haven't really kept up with them--only 2 of their albums (I think its their first two. But I still isten to them! And would love to see them. I have fond memories of me and my sister dancing around the house to them. espcially the actual violet burning song. "...If I was a dancer I'd dance with you.."

I love Third Day. They are my ultimate favorite. I actually got to meet all of them back in febuary I believe. Was a huge surprise from my Hubby. :) .... I really love different kinds of worship music, not everyday stuff, like Waterdeep. I've recently really gotten into the david crowder band as well :)

Not so fast, Icey !

I guess I'd agree with Christina here on several counts.... I don't care for "contemporary Christian" music at all.... I find it absolutely insipid.

I also find a lot of gospel and "gospel-inspired" R&B to be overwhelmingly powerful and moving... to me, these artists are able to bring much more heartfelt emotion and sincerity to their interpretations. Also, I think a lot of religious-inspired reggae (both classic foundation artists as well as some modern dancehall singers) is extremely powerful. And it has a hook.

I'd have to say the rest of the genre leaves me cold.

hey there's no possible responses for the muslim participants lol

I never listen to Christian rock/contemporary music. Though, I like the Mediaeval Baebes, who are these weird Catholic/Pagan English women; they use lots of Medieval European poetry in their music, and much of it is religious -- celebrating Mary/The Feminine Principle (what can I say -- I'm a hippie!)

In that vein, there are some very cool Muslim groups, imo. Niyaz comes to mind; I've been listening to them obsessively all week -- I don't understand me no Persian, but I hear they set medieval Farsi and Urdu Sufi poetry and to music. It's technically electronica, but... since I usually dislike "electronica" I will say that it is and it isn't. I read a review that said something like "you don't know where the synthesizer ends and the animal-skin drum begins." They're *very* cool and the lead singer, Azam Ali, is awesome.
