Removal of Conditions processing time in New York

Hi Everybody,

I need some help figuring out what is happening:

I filed for removal of conditions on 7/18/2013, got the biometrics letter on 8/23/2013. After the biometrics appointment we received a notice about our case being transferred to California on 9/12/2013, and never heard anything from them since.

I assume that case was transferred to California in effort to balance the load, since Vermont was a bit overwhelmed, but my case should be back to my local office by now.

It has been almost 8 months since I filed, and I am just wondering if something is wrong (e.g. misplaced file), especially since I haven't received a request for more evidence or an interview notice, or any other communication whatsoever.

I should mention that my file was pretty comprehensive: Joint Tax returns, Bills on both our names, affidavits from 4 persons, Car title and insurance with both names, Joint Bank account, pictures, etc.

I heard New York local office is very slow, but this seems like unusually long waiting time ....

If anyone had a similar case, please share your experience,

Thanks!

Your file may have been lost. That's really a long time for an ROC. I would suggest making an infopass appointment to see where your case lies.

Thank you for your replies, I appreciate every help.

I talked to my lawyer, and she says everything is ok, I just need to wait a bit longer...

It just seems a bit odd, I am not convinced everything is in order.

What exactly is an infopass appointment, and how to schedule it?

Hey CarpeDiem,

Similar timeline as you. Application originally sent to VSC(We live in NYC), they transferred to CSC. We filed end of July 2013.

I called and was told as of last week, CSC was processing I-751 cases from the 2nd of July 2013. So as per that both you and I have sometime to wait before they get to our files.

I would also suggest an infopass. You can book it online at the USCIS site, I booked one just to make sure everything is on track.

Keep us posted. I will do the same.

you will be fine, I filed January 2013 and I am still waiting, it does seem like NY is slow right now.

  • 2 weeks later...

I got a letter today with a interview date for April 22nd.

I tend to worry too much sometimes, but I am a bit concerned why would they schedule a second interview, since our documentation is really solid.

Where could I find more info what to expect on this interview?

consider yourself lucky, I filed January 2013 and have been waiting since September 2013 for an interview date, you seem to fall in the 10%, I wouldn't worry, yours is just routine, you will be fine.
