I just want Joel to have a job! He wants to find a job as well, but the job market here is next to nothing and it may come down to us moving towards Atlanta. *sigh* At least it won't be hard for me to get a job since I'm licensed throughout Georgia, but there has to be a job available for me too yanno? AUGH!

I'm thinkin about gettin a regular job too...only for the ins benefits cos I have private ins and to add D when he gets here would be like $650 more a month :(

But I don't know when I have the time or how I'm going to do it

Good luck Steven

Hmm.

I'd suggest loan originator for a mortgage company.

One of the best I ever knew used to be a realtor.

I also got myself a part time job, but not @ food service, at Bath & Body Works and it's so much fun that I wish that was my full time job! (But doesn't pay enough, too bad...)

Have fun!!!

Good luck Steven.

It takes a unique person to be good at waiting tables. I tried waiting tables while in college and was terrible at it. I pissed off a lot of people!!!

The manager suggested that I try serving in the banquet department. That was more suited to my skills, because everyone gets the same thing to eat!!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes. :star: I just had my interview and will begin training next weekend. One of the servers said on an average night he brings in about $60-80 in tips, plus the min. wage here is $7.50 - not too shabby for a 3-4 hour shift.

The manager's biggest concern is me coming in straight from my other job, but I'll only work one or two weeknights. I'm going to try to hang on to the second job until Jinky is here and has her work permit.

I worked at a restaurant once. I was around 17 or 18 I guess. I did short order in a small local Italian place. This is totally unrelated but... I always think of it when I think of working there - there was a guy who worked there, I think his name was Rick, and it was during the summer and really hot with no a/c and I was working over pots of boiling water. He was standing there one day staring at me and comes out with, "Did you know that you're beautiful when you sweat?"

I was like... #######????

have you ever worked in or around a construction site like all those illegal mexicans for 5 dollars per hour? i have. and the experience was wonderful and it felt so good when the only thing thought that came into my mind during lunch break was of easy and painless ways of committing suicide. and i still do. i'm not trying gather sympathies but i have a question. if you know of anyone that can get me a job in a restaurant without papers, can you contact me by PMing? I am too afraid to go to an employer due to fear of cops and blackmail. I'm already being blackmailed by my current employer and i know that if i report him to the cops they will simply give him a warning and s*** and fine him a few thousand dollars but i will get deported for sure and going back to that shi*** country is something that I would eventually do but only after committing suicide, not before that!

This is the second post of yours that I have read regarding your illegal status in the USA.
