My fiance and I are currently waiting for his packet 3 to come in the mail. We had all of his info at the embassy and his medical completed and waited for the letter for 5 weeks before finding out he wouldn't receive any letter until he sent in the Readiness for Interview Application. We were briefly devistated, thinking that we would have had to wait now collectively for 11 weeks just to find out the interview date, which could very well be months away depending on how busy the Embassy is right now. The waiting is hard but we knew that going in to this process. We had a gleam of hope after I read the K-1 step by step guide that said when your CEAC "case updated date" is changed and your status is "READY", that can either mean they recieved the last bit of info they needed to process the application, or they have assigned the interview date and sent out the letter. He sent in his readiness application on Sunday, March 16th. We found out how to check our status online on Monday thanks to the Embassy explaining that we needed to check it under "immigrant visas" using our "LND" number. Woops! We had no idea. So I checked it on Monday the 17th and it said our case was "READY" and it was updated that day (17-3-14) I'm assuming because we sent the last bit of the info giving them permission to schedule our interview. It gave me the feeling that all of our info was already processed and they were just waiting on us to tell them we were ready for the interview. That felt like a punch in the stomach that we've been sitting ducks for the last five weeks for nothing. I checked our status on Tuesday, March 18th and our case was updated once more, leading us to believe that they have scheduled our interview and sent the letter. For good measure and just to be sure, I've checked the status the past 2 days (19th and 20th) and the case was still last updated on the 18th. This has gotten us sort of excited. But rather than counting our chickens before they hatch, knowing the embassy and how unsure things can be, could we be right for thinking that they were waiting on us to send that form? Have you ever heard of something like this happening before? We are aiming for May 24th for the wedding, and would like ample time for his family to book flights and such, (wishful thinking, i know) we are completely prepared to push the wedding back to whenever, but of course May is our first choice. We have everything that doesnt require a date planned already so know were just waiting on the visa. Is there any chance we could be on to something in thinking they've sent his letter? How long does it usually take once the letter is sent from London to get to, say, the south of Devon? Any thoughts? Thanks!!!

You can always call the NVC to see if your interview date has been scheduled (select option 3 though I believe, when calling) or call the Embassy directly. (I usually call NVC as the embassy in Haiti is near impossible to contact)

We found out our interview date doing this, prior to receiving the letter. Just a thought. Best of luck to you!

On a side note, we are still waiting 63 days since our interview for final approval so as with everything, things could always be worse, right? dry.png I suppose....

Well I left that part out... I called the Department of state, and the NVC and got probably two of the worst governmental employees ever and they were both extremely rude and yelled at me when I asked if the interview had been scheduled yet. They told me that was not their department and to call the Embassy.... Called the embassy and they tell me and my fiance that it is confidential information and they arent allowed to disclose any of it to us... even though it's our information and we had all of the proof that we are the petitioner and beneficiary. They just kept saying to wait on the letter... but we keep hearing success stories of people calling... How did you get them to give you the interview date because so far we've had no luck!

Oh my! I guess you've not had very good luck. Sorry to hear that!!cray5ol.gif We called the Dept of State as at that time they were still fielding calls for K-1's. However, I get all my updates via NVC now. Did you choose option 3 when calling the NVC? Makes a BIG difference as it is for cases already at the embassy. Option 1 is for those that either haven't reached the NVC or are currently at the NVC. Learned that the hard way shortly after the DOS stopped taking calls.

The UK embassy doesn't schedule an interview until they have everything including the medical results and the readiness form. It may take some weeks after they have everything before they have a date available, which can be a further few weeks out.

So I just got off the phone with the NVC and they said there is no date on file yet and that I should expect to wait 6 weeks. I've heard that before- even though the embassy told me to wait 2-4 weeks. My next question is- what does it mean then that our case is "READY" for the interview then? Wouldn't that mean it's been processed because otherwise they're lying about it's status...

It's just going to say Ready until it switches to Issued or Denied after the interview, or Administrative Processing. It will say that whether an interview date has been issued or not.

See - this is the part I'm confused about as well. I know every embassy's processes are different when they receive your petition/application from the NVC, but I am unsure of the next step. I've filled out my ds160, signed up for a website specific to the US consulate in HK for paying for fees and done that. But I can't schedule my medical or get my police clearance form UNTIL I've gotten packet 3 from the consulate.

Confusing!

Yes but does the "ready" mean that it has been processed and it is awaiting an interview date? I talked to nvc again and they said that it shows that our case was worked on recently but that they're either waiting for the readiness app or they haven't acted on it yet. I know we sent it in so they must have not acted on it yet? So has all of the other info been processed and they just need to schedule now?

Haven't heard of that - is that UK embassy specific though? Not sure if they have that for HK embassy and haven't even heard of that until I read your post!! Uh oh...

OH just found something similar to it on a website - I will have to fill that in, but I can't at the moment because I haven't done my police clearance and medicals (which you can't do in HK until you've gotten a letter from the consulate....)

Ready means that it's at the consulate. It was ready when the consulate received it, and it will be ready until you have your interview. The only notification changes I've seen are in transit - ready - AP - issued.

The things that do change are the dates where it says "status created/status updated" under the big READY.
