    • Yes. With the era of "the internet of things" at our doorstep, it is time for a national conversation on privacy. The old political models no longer apply.
    • No. Right and left will continue to have meaning in a country that still cares about issues like abortion and affirmative action and taxes. Privacy can take a number.

No one ever said the path from 0 to 10 would skip over 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9.

When does it end? I'm tired of being asked if I'm a thief and a thug based on my skin color. You know it's bad when a lady from Korea asked my wife if she trusts me since I'm bound to steal from her. I spoke to this lady in her language and was as polite as possible. I'm still a thug.

I can't find it, I must have left it in another pair of jeans. maybe I should just get a neck lanyard, like you got.

It's funny how you and everyone else can read what I wrote and understand, yet Smoke comes away with somehow seeing that I wrote "Only vote for a political party based on their race"

The sad thing is, the GOP could be the party for black people, as you stated, but until they stop calling us ugly, they can't take us to the prom.

I don't know about Korea but I do know about India. Yeah, the black thing... I get you. You're right. But if it makes you feel any better, white people carry their own stereotypes. White people hate their families. White people are all on drugs. White women sleep around, they even sleep with their pets. White men will charm your pants off, sleep with you and dump you. White people ain't got no values at all. Most of them are atheist!

All untrue, of course. But you'd be shocked at how often I hear that stuff in India about white Americans.

Yeah, in Korea and Hong Kong, I've been places that wouldn't serve my shipmates and I because we were black. I know this because the white families were served right next to us and we were constantly ignored to the point where a Navy Chief (also black) saw it and complained for us.

But I didn't know white people got drug like that over there. If they say that about them, I don't want to know what they think about black people.

The meaning behind what I said was that currently the Democratic party is the only party that addresses the concerns and needs of the Black community. Everyone, including you, votes for the party and candidates that best represents your views no?

So when the Democratic party favors legislation that creates better work conditions for women, equal pay for women, obviously more women are inclined to vote Democrat.

If you are a White, heterosexual male, religious conservative who does not favor policies for lets say gay rights - there is a strong chance you will be voting for the party that represents your views which would be Republican.

Understand what I am saying?

There was a time pre-1950s Civil Rights movement when most Black people voted Republican. Why? Because the Republican party best represented the needs of the Black community. When the Dixiecrats split and the Republicans turned their back on Federal civil rights legislation, Black people defected in droves - not just Blacks but a lot of northern Whites too. Why? It had nothing to do with a persons race - hell there are hardly ANY people of color in the upper levels of elected offices. Can you tell me in the history of the U.S how many Black senators there have been? So your comment doesn't even make factual sense. Black people have been voting for Whites who champion and support causes within our community for like...forever.

If you can't understand what I'm saying, I give up.

I would argue historically very few Black people vote for a candidate based on their race. I'm sure that's some myth that some people like to float about.

I can only speak for myself, but I supported Biden before I even knew who Obama was. I also liked John Edwards. So for me personally race was a 0 factor for me in who I chose for my candidate. During the normal democratic process of vetting candidates and learning more about them I eventually did come to support and vote for Obama.

The white people-drug thing is mostly because of all the hippies who come to India to find themselves at a Hare Krishna ashram. They are reviled by the population, except for the people who need them for their livelihood.

If we assume for the moment that both Rand Paul and Hillary win their nominations, this won't really be about republican vs democrats. Its about the course of our government, do we want to retain the republic or do we want to move towards a more imperial path.

Agreed. Rand Paul is clearly the right choice over someone like Hillary.

I meant drug through the mud. Generally in the countries I've been in, it's awesome to be White. Germany was a tad bit different.

Rand Paul can't win. Only way Republicans can win the White House is if they cheat.

They could win it if they find a candidate that's going to represent all of the people.
