Insurers on Obamacare: Expect Premium Prices to Soar

Perhaps there will be a rise, but 300% seems extremely doubtful given that not a single person quoted in any of those articles was backing up that number in any way.

Low risk categories aren't signing up because of a concerted propaganda campaign.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see that the conservatives campaigning against the ACA are doing so with a longer game. My speculation (which is every bit as likely as a 300% jump in insurance costs), is that they are going to encourage the costs to go as high as is possible and then come around to claiming that it should have been a single payer system from day one. So they'll wait for their propaganda campaign to work and then say that the democrats messed it all up by creating the ACA, and here, we'll give you single payer, which the democrats wouldn't give you, then everyone truly will have healthcare!

It's very obvious that the US healthcare system, in its current incarnation, is broken beyond all repair. Costs are going to rise no matter what. Before ACA, costs were constantly rising. Now that the ACA is in, costs are continuing to rise, because the system is overpriced to start and people are still as greedy as they were to create the broken system. The system is beyond my ability to even comprehend how this can happen.

My wife was in a car accident over Christmas. She was struck by a driver. Bills are still coming in for the ER trip that she took to ensure she had no spinal cord or head injuries after her car was completely totalled. Her and her dog, given the damage to the car, were lucky to survive. And yet her insurance has not covered her ER trip completely. Which was preventative medicine, to ensure that any problem was caught immediately. The idea of a person being charged thousands for an accident for which she holds no fault, just to make sure she isn't at risk of dying alone in the hotel room where she had to stay? Is completely unbelieveable to me. To me, it sounds like something out of a horrible dystopian novel, not something that can happen in an actual developed nation that purports itself to be the greatest in the world.

I suggest you go back..read the article slowly...no I am not trying to insult you..but...you are not getting the whole message = ACA is in THE DEATH SPIRAL!!..(that has to be said with an echo for full effect..so please read it several times & lower your voice 1 octave each time)

I'm sorry, would you mind rephrasing this? I sometimes have difficulty with non-standard syntax and I am not actually certain what you were saying here. I apologize if that's tiresome or annoying, but I do not wish to respond to something and end up having a different conversation to the one that you believe we are having, or vice versa.

You may be the most polite poster to ever grace these...posts..?

I can promise you there will be an increase. The cost of health insurance has been rising steadily since the inception of health insurance. As I pointed out earlier, for the slackers who never bothered to get coverage, the increase can be any factor of zero.

p.s. I hope your wife & dog are doing well.

Gegel - I dig prudence but c'mon...the structure they built has changed = the numbers must change too = where are the new projections?! ........?.........= crickets......= single payer here we come.

no numbers on people that have paid & are truly enrolled and no link to healthcare.gov's real numbers.

wait a second. a few post back they were all making wild speculations.

Exactamendo! (don't know if that's real word in any1 dialect..but I just made it mine)....the freaking numbers are not pure...they are dirtier than a street hooker...like?...hmmmmm...think......Lindsey Lohan. now that's dirty.

If the speculation for a 300% increase is based on numbers from actual data, then why is it that not a single person sees those numbers as likely enough to actually be backing up 300% with an explanation of even where those numbers came from?

The 300% is the eye appeal...the real problem = ACA as designed was already an uphill battle & now = totally bent over and worn like Boy George.

Who's to say the private insurance companies aren't using this as an excuse to raise premiums?

Because the almighty ACA (booming voice) is designed to prevent this.

i'm sure they are. they're in business to make a profit. we're still going to pay it.

why no one is signing estimates, I can't answer. but, with all the news outlets running the stories, i'm believing there will be a sizeable increase & bracing for the worst case.

& there is the smart play. All this hope for change...smh...it comes at a cost..... The vampire does not leave after invited without a fill of blood...neither will the ACA....Except the inept...stupid...poor...drug addicts...illegals...they all drink from the cup & thrive.

maaaaaan....I like evolution! .....I am seriously disappointed.

If the ACA was indeed as doomed as the right wingers would want to make themselves believe it is, wouldn't they just sit back, relax and wait for it to come crashing down? Instead, they're sitting there foaming at their collective mouths like a pack of hyenas drumming up speculations and false stories (death panels, government takeover, 300% rate increases, whatnot) to make themselves feel better. It's hilarious.

In this day & age = media is ever watchful = Gotta be on your game 24 hours.

IMO - unfortunately...the majority of voters (dem & pub) follow hype over substance.
