Just wanted to say congrats to everyone that has been getting approved. I figured now would be a good time to update you all on my journey at the NVC so far. The good news about the USCIS finally catching up on their backlog is everyone is getting approved in a timely manner. The bad news is that it has caused a slight backlog at the NVC, hopefully it get straightened out. But anyway here is a quick rundown of where I am at hopefully it helps you all plan for you next steps and prepare for what you need going forward. Also here is an extremely helpful Wiki created by a Visa Journey member about the NVC process. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process It answers a lot of questions you might have and has links to helpful sites.

my NVC journey so far

May 8 2014 NVC finally received my case from the USCIS

June 11 2014 NVC loaded the case into there system and assigned a case number. This opened the ability to pay the AOS free

June 11 2014 Paid the AOS fee and completed ds 261 form

June 13 2014 AOS fee shows as paid on the NVC web page

June 13 2014 mailed AOS package it was a Friday sent priority and it was tracked and delivered June May 16th

June 19th 2014 NVC acknowledged receipt. so basically it sat there for 3 days before they entered they received it into their system

And to this point is as far as it has got. still waiting on approval of the 261 form and AOS package. there are still more steps before the interview. Pay IV bill, send in IV package and complete form 260 but none of that can happen until the 261 form is complete.

I didn't post this to bring anyone down. USCIS approval is a huge step. I just wanted to help you prepare for the next phase as best I can. I hope this info helps.. The wiki page is extremely helpful so take the time to read through it.

Best of luck moving forward..

Congrats Dave87

I wanted to share more helpful information regarding the NVC.

I finally received notification from the NVC and i got a checklist. It says i was missing information on the form because i left a area blank instead of putting N/A.

What's annoying about that is the instrutions for filling out the form says if an answer is "Not applicable" or "none" leave the space blank.

So when anyone fills out one of the i-864 forms (AOS) don't leave any blank spaces put N/A. Even though the instructions say leave blank.

Waited 6 weeks for a response, now it could be up to another 6 weeks. Doesn't make sense but it is a common issue. When i called the agent i spoke to said he gets about 10 calls a day on this topic. He doesn't know why they do it but said he wishes they would fix it.

Again i hope this information helps

Hi MNorton5010

Sometimes these are just phantom case status updates. I had received an address change one when I had nevee requested it. So I called my attorney and indeed it was a system glitch and nothing to worry about. You can give them a call and ask for a 2nd level Agent who will let you know whats going on. I called bc of the address change to find out and the agent advised they had sent out a Request For Evidence and That I would receive that shortly. I suggest u ring them just in case. But it could also be a system glitch.

Hope this helps.

On August 1, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E).....

Congrats!

If I'm not mistaken, you are the first March filer in this group waiting in Nebraska that has been approved directly out of Nebraska...if so, that is good news indeed!

I-130 mailed: 03/10/14 (from France to Chicago Lockbox)

I-130 received: 03/12/14 (this is also our priority date)

NOA1 email: 03/16/14 (email sent at 11:40 pm on Sunday!?!)

Sent to NVC: 08/19/14 (email notification)

NVC receipt: 09/08/14 (confirmed by phone call)

NVC case #: 09/11/14 (received via email with NVC welcome letter as attachment)

DS-261 done: 09/12/14

New i864 mailed: 12/14/14
Received: 12/18/14 (email notification 12/22/14, with another 60-day warning)

NVC case
complete: 3/2/15 (confirmed on call to NVC 3/4/15; email received 3/9/15)
Interview date: 4/1/15 (assigned 3/11/15)
APPROVED!!! CEAC status changed to "Issued" on 4/2/15.
Visa and POE
papers in-hand: 4/12/15
POE: 4/16/15 in Minneapolis. Kept my wife and our three-Y.O. waiting in a windowless room with no toilet access for over an hour, then let them through without asking any questions.
But whatever: it's over!!!!! 13 months and 3 days from original priority date.
Green card: Accompanying docs stamped 6/16, but the card did not arrive until 7/2 (approx. 11 weeks after POE).
Now it's really over. Thank you so much to all of you at VJ who helped us through this ordeal.
