Hi,

I submitted a service request 2 weeks ago, and checked my status online yesterday, I found that my case is back to stage 1 (Acceptance). It used to be at stage 3 (Request for Evidence), but now it's back to stage 1 :(

This is the message on my USCIS dashboard:

Can someone help me interpret this message:

Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your case is at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. If this I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN is still pending, you will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. This is the feedback i got from someone who sent everything within 1.5 months...

-What I strongly recommend you is to have both packages (AOS and IV) right away to send them TOGETHER, as soon as you have the AOS bill invoiced (so you can use the cover page). --

After that she is just waiting for her case to be completed.. After seeing this i got hope that it might not be as bad as i thought :)

Oh I didn't know that. That's a great idea to work on. I have AOS pretty much prepared. The only thing I am waiting for is my husband's document. We have some issues with passport (need to resolve that first), then get the Police clearance & he already has birth certificate. He needs to mail me those (along with his pictures). I have AOS package ready from my side. This process is taking so long. :( Hope we're almost there!! *fingers crossed*

My status still says "approval notice sent out" it didn't change to "shipped to NVC", should I call USCIS & ask them cuz i see that yours was shipped right after. Today marks the 10th day since my approval notice was sent out.

P.S- Do you happen to know if NVC mails out a letter to us asking for beneficiary's supporting documents? For example- Listing the items like Birth certificate, marriage certificate, passport size photo, police clearance, etc..or do we just sent out the documents on our own through our research on the NVC website. I'm trying to expedite my husband's passport & they are asking for some notice from U.S side asking for those documents. I don't have the letter yet so I'm so confused. For now, I sent them the approval notice but that doesn't indicate the document lists that we need. I hope they expedite it, so that I can have the IV package complete before NVC asks. I'm so stressed...ughh -.-

My uscis status still says post decision activity! But i thought it was because it hasnt been received at nvc ? i believe nvc does mail out a form to you but until that process is next and you shouldnt wait for it. Try going to the uscis web and go to the nvc process page, i think it tells you step by step and what you will need. Print it out and maybe that will help! And you can send the documents as soon ad you send the aos. I spoke to nvc and they confirmed it. When nvc assigns you a case# they will send you a bar code. You will print it out and make copies. When you send out aos and iv together just separate each packet with paper clips and have a barcode sheet attached to each. I guess they read that barcode as your case. I was also stressed out, but then i realized that we might have more time than we think, it might be 2 more weeks to reach nvc, then a few days to get a case # then a few days to receive barcode and forms. So we have a good few weeks to gather what we need. So if anything lets be happy and think that we got this ? it would be worst if we wait until we receive instructions from NVC and then we gather our docs!

Hi Tenzy,

I have been in the NVC proceeding phase of my visa journey. We are supposed to send the IV packet and I had a question regarding it,if you could address it. The visa website (http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html) States that one must obtain the original or certified documents - be it birth certificate or police clearance or marriage certificate. This is a little confusing to me and my husband as we are following the process on our own without an attorney. Does it mean that we have to submit the original documents ? What does certified copies mean here? Does it mean that I get my documents attested or certified by a gazetted officer? Also, the link above states that :

Important: If we asked for an original or certified copy you must send the actual original or certified copy of the document to the NVC. You cannot submit a photocopy or a notarized photocopy as this will delay your case.

This confuses me a lot more as I am in India and my husband is in US. Does this mean that I have to mail original documents to him to complete the IV packet to be sent to NVC? I hope, if this is what I am supposed to do, will I not require thee original documents during my interview? Or will I get these original documents back?

Thanks in advance!!
