Refused Visa

Desperate to vacation in the US for reasons unclear.

First time a host has been mentioned.

Thinks that making Hotel reservation in the US when he will not use them will help his case.

Hello everyone, pls wen preparing for interview, is it advisable to make hotel reservation even when your host gives you and your family option that you live wit him? .

Consular officials know as well as anyone else that most US hotels don't require a deposit for reservations and there is no penalty for cancellations until very close to the booking date. So... a booking by itself is pretty meaningless, really. You can make a reservation, but don't expect it to make any difference to what the interviewing officer thinks. Before I got my green card, I always stayed with my relatives. I never had a problem getting a tourist visa but that was because I could I demonstrate ties to my home country (even while my immigration petition was in progress). This is going to be a much more important factor for you than where you are planning to stay.

Remember you need to be honest on your form and your interview. If the interviewing officer catches you out in any sort of written or verbal lie you will face a ban on entry to the US (not sure how long the ban is for for falsehood on a tourist visa application).
