were almost there...what happens next?

hello out there in visa journey land...we finally got it..almost there but got a couple questions..looks like the employment card expires in one year..i thought it lasted at least 2 yearsso i guess after the interview we might get another one with a longer exp date?can we now go get s.s card?what happens next does anybody know...any info would be helpful thank you visa journey and thank you to all that can help me out...good luck in your journeys

Timeline

You get the employment authorization card as an interim measure while adjusting status, it gets issued for a year at a time and if for some reason your green card takes longer than that you can renew it (that is very unusual). Once you go for your interview and get approved then you will get your conditional green card that is valid for two years or if you have already been married for 2 years then it would be a ten year green card. With the employment authorization card you can get a social security number and then you will be able to work legally.
