well, who lost it? who had it last? who sent it?

if the answer to the last question was USCIS,

then

about 25 days after yer certain of the date,

call into USCIS, get a Tier 2 Human, an ISO,

then

ask if there are any returned postal mail pieces for your son's case (the receipt # on the I-485).

If the answer is yes, then ask the ISO to go over the address with you, you giving over the updated address, and ask that the postal mail piece be resent.

Don't waste time with a Tier 1 Sub-Human, a CSR, as they are useless.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

This happened to a friend of mine, and USCIS had them reapply for another greencard, pay the fee, then, do naturalization - where they take your brand new greencard.

USCIS needs the money!
