Why are seemingly useless polls voted on heavily,

I'm talking about the employment satisfaction poll.

Most of us have jobs, such as life and a requirement for sustenance.

In this poll, we have over 200 reads, 14 replies and 14 votes.

Why is it that VJ appears to be a alternate existence? Is it an escape from the realities of life?

That seems illogical, given the fact that "real life" issues are addressed everyday.

Thoughts?

Well.

I can't speak for the others, but as for myself -- I rarely visit the Polls forum, so I hadn't noticed it.

But I will make a point to go there and vote.

A lot of people use the "view new posts" or "active topics" function. If it got swamped out by a bunch of threads (like one recently-closed 55 page one that was on the front page of new posts for days) it was probably just missed.

I haven't seen your poll (will go there shortly), but could it be that it's geared toward people already working? A lot of people who have the time to be on the forums alot aren't working or can't yet work after immigrating. It could also be that, as with many things in life, if it's in any way requiring effort, it will be bypassed for the easier one.

Now I'm going to go look and see if I was close. :P
