1. I don't want to have a sponsor unless it's necessary. If I just send my fiance to the interview with my I-134 and it's not enough, will they deny it or give me the option to get a sponsor?

2. My bank account says that the $340 fee is pending, but I haven't received notice that they got the application even though I filed form G-1145. Does it take a while for them to respond after accepting the payment?

3. When do I receive a case number?

1. If your CURRENT income is enough, you will not need a co-sponsor. This is true even if your most recent tax return is under the poverty guidelines. The embassy in Bogota will ask for your most recent tax return, but if you include employment letters and pay stubs to prove your current income is enough, you will be fine.

2. It can take about a week after mailing the petition to receive any electronic notification, such as text or email.

3. You will receive your receipt number when you are notified that your petition has been received.

1. Thank god, and I hope it happens this way because you described my situation perfectly. But if it's not enough, then that didn't answer my question.

2. I mailed it on March 10, delivered March 14 and my bank account shows the check pending since this morning, so now the anticipation of getting the email or text is killing me!

3. Hurry up, USCIS!

1. They will ask you to get a co sponsor, they won't deny you right off just because your income is not enough. That is if there's no other issues with your case.

Edit: if they allow co sponsor in your embassy.

No they will not ask you for a co-sponsor if your current income is enough. And yes they do allow co-sponsors in Bogota.

This is from personal experience. My previous petition was in Colombia, in Nov 2012. I brought 3 years of tax returns...all were under the poverty guidelines, and some by a lot..ie more than $10,000 short. My current income, however, was over the poverty guidelines. I included employment letters from 2 jobs, as well as the last couple months of paystubs. When I went to the interview with my ex, I did bring a co-sponsor. When the forms were turned in to the Colombian consul (the first one you will see), she returned back to me all my co-sponsor paperwork. My I-134 was sufficient on its own. My ex was approved the visa no problem.

This is awesome, thank you! I really hope everything works out. My parents love my fiance, but I know they don't want to be legally involved in the process.
