I suspect the outrage has more to do with pride than religion. Who wants to be told he or she is "unclean" and not allowed in a taxi?

personally, i've seen many dogs cleaner than some taxi cab drivers :P

people refuse service to certain people all the time.... I am not sure what the outrage is here... is it because they are immigrants or something??

One reason why I would take a cab, for example, would be to get me home from a bar or party. I'd take a cab so I don't end up driving under the influence. Now I'm gonna have a cabbie tell me that he ain't going to take me home because I had a drink or two? I'd file a complaint with the licensing agency and I'd follow up on it, too. My ultimate goal in such scenario would be to see that guy lose the license to operate a cab in my town. Not to put him out of work or nothing, just to protect him from frequently coming into contact with folks under the influence. ;)

the article didn't say they wouldn't pick you up if you had been drinking ...it said said they wouldn't pick you up if you had a drink in your hand.....

Not just if you had a drink in your hand (as in an open container), but any alcohol, even in a sealed container. The issue wasn't drunkeness, though ET's point is quite valid, but the simple transportation of alcohol. If a Muslim believes transporting alcohol is a sin, then perhaps airport taxi driver is an inppropriate career choice.

I know this point has been raised before, but I din't see any comeback.

Very sad!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never understand why muslim people never integrate with the rules of the country where they decide to live...................if they dont like the rules of the countries where they decide to live why they don't stay in their original damn countries???????? They can make a big favor to americans (in this case) and to themselves!!!!!

What rule is being broken? I cannot get over the ignorance in this thread.

I was surprised when I first came to VJ. The hardest part is trying to push the nagging thought out of my mind that these people may represent a large portion of the U.S. population.

Likewise. Just goes to show that going to college does not make a person smart or worldly. Especially when someone is educated only by like-minded people.

I dont think so, how would like to know what kind of education you have, and anyway, everybody can express their own

ides or thoughts.....Genious!!!! Did you study @ Harvard?????.....you dont even mention the country where you are from.......

why bring up the guide dogs part of it.... I am sure they didn't come out and say we are not going to take people with guide dogs... I am sure the writer of the article threw that in there to stir things up... just my opinion though...

I saw the story on the news last night. They are refusing anyone with a dog. They are just driving by or saying no to them. The city government is going to start prosecuting for that.

So what? There are a dozen more cabs to choose from, not to mention, how many guide dogs come along?

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.

Those who think these cabbies should be fired are also free-market supporters, or no? You don't think the market should decide whether or not these people get fares?
