Well, I admit to not reading all the pages posted since my last post in this thread but I can say that Minneapolis tried to reason with these muslim immigrants and find a way to compromise.....

Unfortunately, the deal broke down and the first, and primary concern here is to provide a service to travellers, those that are american and most likely christian, or of a faith that simply doesn't give a damn about a bunch of Somali's imposing thier religious beliefs on them in a fcuking taxicab......

The Minneapolis licensing agency responsible for hack licenses has warned those cabbies refusing to provide service based on religious their beliefs will be suspended for two weeks for first offense, and two years for more offenses....

This is what happens when immigrants do not assimilate. Frankly, I think they should be checking those Greencards, and deporting any of these idjits back to Somalia...

They'll be happier there- them and their "GOD".

We've got too many of these yahoos in this country- from Brits, Canadians, and my favorite, the french, and many more obviously including Mexicans, illegal or not, that do not assililate into our society.

I say send then back....

But any cabbie who discriminates between passengers oughta be fired, IMO. Plenty of Muslim cabbies in New York City and New Delhi and they don't seem to have any issues with passengers transporting booze.

Also, AIUI the issue isn't passengers who are drinking alcohol in the cab or who are drunk, it's passengers who have purchased alcohol at the duty-free shop and are carrying bags from duty-free, and that the cab drivers won't even carry passengers who put the alcohol in the trunk of the taxi, unopened and in its bag.

I'm not sure why this is confusing. Muslims are not to transport alcohol. You can swath it in all the muslin you want and shove it deep in the trunk under the spare tire, but it's still transporting alcohol.

The comparison was made to a non-muslim taxi driver refusing service to a drunk passenger for his own safety, cleanliness, and overall sanity. Nothing to do with alcohol, per se.

You can't really blame Islam for FGM. That's a practice that even Christian/other religion East Africans engage in, unfortunately. And most Muslims in the rest of the world don't do it. It's cultural rather than religious.

You're not serious, right? It most certainly is not permissable in Islam, and I'd love for you to find something proving that it is. You seemed to have skipped over the detail that it is done based on one's culture, not on one's religion, and that there are Christians in Ethiopia, Egypt, Haiti (a Roman Catholic nation) etc, that practice this, so is it automatically permissable in Christianity? Of course not.

As for the religious chant, you are totally wrong. This is not at all what is done, it differs by culture. Are you telling me that Haitian Roman Catholic/voodoo women are chanting some phantom Islamic prayer while they fgm their girls? Riiiight.
