How much time does it take at the POE after I land to get out of the airport? My POE is Los Angeles Airport. My husband/relative might come to pick me up, so just wanted to have an idea. My flight will land at 12.45 pm on 4th April.

It is usually 30 minutes to an hour before you get out. Make sure to follow the Permanent Residents line and not the regular line though and you should be out faster

I agree

I had POE in Los Angeles. I arrived 30 minutes before estimated arrival time. Security told me that I should wait on a tourist line so even thoug I had yellow sheet, so I did. I don't really remember how long did I stay in line , but there were many people. Maybe 30-45 minutes I waited. When I got to the officer it went smooth, just some questions, fingerprints, photo and welcome in United States :) so I think it should take around 30-45 minutes depending how many planes will arrive the same time as your. I was at around 3pm

Be glad you are not coming through Atlanta, we were almost 2 hours, and only two people in front of my (now) wife.,,.I think the officer fall in love with my wife.,.,., totally un-called for delays.,,almost missed our connecting flight to South Carolina.,.bordering on harrassment.,, I just sat there and looked straight ahead, as if I said anything, it would have been worse.

but, I made 8 trips tp the Philippines, until I got my wife here, and getting through Atlanta, was always a bad situation, always something, then they start making you ""claim your luggage"" and carry it 100 feet and re-check it in!.,. Just my opinion, somewhat absurd, if they do not like some baggage, stop it, hold it.,.,.etc.,,why claim a bag.., and carry 100 feet and re-check.,.,

Oh well it is their game, we just play by the rules.,.,.,

New York where I reside was way worse, I remember coming here in 2007 for the first time and getting out almost 3 hours after my flight landed because I landed when there were 4 other flights out there. However, since then they now have clear demarcations on where tourists/non-permanent residents should enter and where permanent residents should. That said, the time taken to actually get immigration done through a visa officer may defer from 1 minute through 30 minutes to hours depending on whether you are actually getting her without any issues.

I am pretty sure, none of the officers take a liking for anyone's wives because they are trained to look for problems and not beauty and if they did look at beauty there is no dearth of them who get down at New York so that wait would have been several hours for me. Since 2007 I have hardly spent more than 3 minutes at an immigration counter. The most time spent before my GC was waiting to get in line to get to an immigration officer or to get to the actual immigration counter (so around 2 hours)

So including immigration, after you get out of the aircraft and get in the proper line of GC you should not take longer than 30 minutes.

Source: In the past 8 months I went in an out of NYC on international flights around 12 times and my total time spent at an immigration counter was less than 3 minutes each time with 0 waiting times getting in the permanent resident line.

Understood.

Thank you.

How long does it usually take to receive the passport after the interview?

it all depends on the US consulate. If the status of your case changes from AP to issued then you will get it sooner. I was lucky. My case status changed from AP to issued on the same day and my passport was available for pickup the very next day. In some cases, the case status remains in AP for quite a few days.
