We don't know if God or gods exist. Some believe, some don't. For believers, science doesn't get in the way. Perhaps science contradicts some of what is written in the Bible, but that probably only bothers someone who takes he Bible literally. Many look at the message and the idea that is being conveyed, not that every little detail is literally what happened, especially regarding the Old Testament. We don't have much information about Jesus outside of the Bible, but their is ample written about Christianity and its spread in the early days. Many were convinced and believed and many died for their beliefs during those first few hundred years. However you look at it, it was a very powerful and compelling belief.

The same argument can be made for unicorns, Santa Claus and Elves...

How so? Yes there are devout fundamentalist believers, and then there are the majority out there that believe in God the modern way, by either actually knowing very little about the Bible and Biblical claims, or when they are more knowledgeable simply deploy the 'it isn't literal' dodge.

As I've said a million times, the burden of proof should be on the person that believes something exists. Its not on people who don't to prove it doesn't. Those who believe should have to prove existence since its their claim to begin with. Oh course no one has to do anything really as we're all free to think what we want.

So there is a pot of gold at the rainbow's end after all. How can I be so sure? Well, because nobody has ever proven that it isn't there. Following the God argument made here, since nobody has proven that there is no pot of gold at the rainbow's end, it must positively be there. The faithful should go and pick it up seeing how absent any proof that there is no pot of gold they must be 100% positive that it is indeed there. And yet, none are going. Odd, ain't it?
