$600 per month! Can't afford even half that right now

That is for two people, not just one. Health care does not come cheap here. When they came up with this current law, they originally was a lot of talk about how to lower healthcare costs, which are totally out of control in this country. In the end, all the reforms that would have reduced healthcare costs were stripped out of the final bill, until what was mainly left was a mandate buy, with subsidies for low income citizens. Other than forcing a larger shared risk, no other reform measures were included.

$1500 on non wellness care, $2500 for the family. $35 copay. Those were in network providers. I think $20 on prescriptions. Its hard to remember the exact details. I just noticed it was better than our current Medica plan for very little more per month than I'm paying work. Although that was dropping my daughter, who's about to age out of me carrying her any longer.
