Aww! So cute! He looks like an adult dwarf to me! I had one for about 10 years (he died when I was 17) and although he was brown colored, he had the same sort of face and small ears, etc. Good luck with him! :D
We have a lop and I believe they're the ones with the longer ears that fall to the sides.

I've been thinking about/collecting pictures of lop-eared bunnies for about a month now. I'm officially jealous that you have one! lol

Well we got him when I was in high school so he's at my parents house for now. His name is Oliver and he's almost 8 years old. He's got attitude. The dogs love to eat his poop and he loves to hop around with them. I'll have to show you some pictures tomorrow!

Awww Oliver! That's a cute name. I was thinking 'Hugo' for my fictional bunny, after Victor Hugo, or if my bunny's a girl -- Marie-Therese after the lover/inspiration for Picasso's best period (imo). And YES send me them pictures :D My dog used to eat our bunny's poop too and we would tell her to go give the bunny a kiss and she would go over to his cage and when he would come to sniff her, she'd lick his nose. Incredibly cute. The dog knew him by name.

have you ever heard or read the story "Leo the Lop"? it is a cute story...

LeotheLop1.jpg

No! I haven't, I was always a Peter Rabbit person. I'll have to look into Leo.

I've never heard of Leo either, but it seems mighty cute. I've been getting my lop-eared bunny (and puppy, and other kinds of bunny, and tiny hamster, and small duckling) fixes at the practically transcendental CUTEOVERLOAD.COM

The rabbit you have there appears to be a a 4-5 month old dutch. Yes its ears are a bit on the shorter side but it already looks too big for a dwarf. Is it a male or female? You will want to have it spayed / neutured. Are you keeping it indoors, or out :)

It is NOT a lop.

Sure is a cute thing. Remnds me of my Molly.

Rabbits are very cute animals, and sorry to sound stern here- but they have very special needs as far as what to eat, and how much room the need to be happy. Please make sure her diet is consisting mainly of HAY and vegetables- although many are posinous. NO LETTUCE! A good quality rabbit pellet made of silage to suupliment. You can letter train her. You must keep her box clean, and you must not keep her in a wire bottom cage.

Find a web site or a book. I used to run a group about rabbits and rabbit care but it is no longer :(

Enjoy your new baby

The black and white bunnies in this pic look just like yours.

Thanks for your input, Aphidfreak. I am still tending to think that our little bunny truly is a dwarf of some type tho. His ears and paws are extremely tiny and he doesn't act like a younger bunny would. He is very tame and affectionate, even goes so far as to jump up on my daughter's belly when she is lying on the floor to play with him...lol...and goes nose to nose with her nudging and exploring...

(if my daughter's t-shirt looks a bit weird at the bottom, it's because I edited the pic so her skin wasn't all showing the way it was originally...lol)

I suppose only time will tell and we see just how much bigger he grows, if at all.

I do know how to care for rabbits, as I mentioned in my initial post, I had one as a pet when I was younger. You're right, they do have strict requirements to be healthy bunnies and we have made sure that his needs are well taken care of. We also live on a farm, so hay is in well abundance, tho we will supplement it with Timothy hay as well. He is a definite buck (his testicles are well defined...lol) so yes, we plan on having him neutered as well. It will help him keep his pleasant disposition as well as refrain from spraying his territory as bucks are wont to do. And rabbits can and do readily eat green leafy lettuce...it's the iceberg type they get diarrhea from. Lots of green vegetables, period, are good for them. We have a bunch of brussel sprouts starting to blow outside in the garden at the moment that we are sure Peter will adore.

Hubby is outside right at this very moment finishing up a wonderful hutch for Peter. It is on legs off the ground, 2 feet by 4 feet with a covered box area for Peter to keep warm and dry in. We'll fill it with plenty of hay for him to both eat and keep warm in and if it gets too cold, we will add a hot water bottle under it for extra warmth. Changing that to a frozen water bottle come the summer if the days get too hot. And where the hutch will be situated will be out of the sun and wind as well. We will still bring him into the house for an hour or two each evening to play with him. And just close off the hallway and shut the bedroom doors so he can't get himself into trouble. He has toys and all already - going to be one spoiled little bunny, I'll tell ya...lol.

I have been surfing the net on bunny sites to refresh my memory and be sure that our bunny will be healthy and happy.

Of course...the page could be wrong tho, too...

Thanks again, Aphidfreak, much appreciated.
