Moving to Washington from BC - packing questions

When my visa is approved, I will be driving a moving truck across the border with my things. Is there any advice on how to pack? Is it necessary to itemize everything including the small stuff?

How is this normally done?

Is there any restriction on what I can bring? (besides the obvious like guns and other prohibited things)

Where can i find more information about the best way to pack so it's the least hassle for me and for crossing the border?

Thanks smile.png

I recently crossed the Peace Arch/Blaine border and it was a breeze. We had our SUV packed with as much earthly belongings as we could and oh, a full rooftop carrier as well. My then fiancée and I drove through around 11pm so it wasn't that busy. I have a Nexus pass but to activate a K-1 we went through the regular booth and informed the border officer that we were there to activate my K-1. He gave us an orange slip and said to take it inside the facility (which was all expected).

My paperwork was processed and fingerprints were taken but no question about our things nor was our vehicle inspected. We weren't ask for an itemized list of personal items that I was moving. The only thing he mentioned was a quick note whether I am importing my vehicle now or later. I said later as we would like to come back to Vancouver once I get my AP. He wished us well and was out of there in about twenty minutes.

Hope this helps.

Take the truck crossing at blaine :)

I find them a lot more friendlier.

I had an Itemized list of stuff in our vehicle. I had my dad drive one car, and I drove a van. You'll be in the office for a while processing your passport, visa, and everything. Note: you cannot use the bathroom there. lol. Maybe it's changed now.
