Our wedding is planned for May 27 in Solikamsk, Russia. I have reviewed various websites about documents required for marriage in Russia and we have also contacted the local ZAGS office in Soikamsk. I have first page of passport copied, translated, notarized and apostille. I have original divorce documents, notarized, apostilled and translated.

My concern is about the "Certificate of Non-Impediment". I have a document I downloaded from the internet, sworn to in front of my county clerk at courthouse, notarized (attached), translated and apostille. However the US Embassy site says we need the standard affidavit form that they provide which takes 7 days to get completed (get form from Embassy, complete, notarize, pay, take to Dept of Legalization, wait 5 business days, retrieve).

Can others that have been married in Russia please comment on the Certificate of Non-Impediment, will the form I have generated with notary, translation and apostille be accepted. ZAGS in Solikamsk did not specify we needed any "certificate of non-impediment" or any Embassy form.

Below is what we received from ZAGS of Solikamsk

At your request we inform that when applying requires the presence of both (if one party can not be present when you apply can be issued separate statements), the presence of the receipt of payment of state duty for registration of marriage, passports, documents confirming the termination of a previous marriage (if previously consisted married). For the groom need a passport with a Russian translation, notarized, Russian visa, certificate of marital status (depending on which state it is necessary fiance lives in Moscow legalization or apostille stamping). For further advice please clarify how it will apply, place of residence of the groom.

Untranslated:
