Last time I knew lpr's were exempt from Obama care. Only citizens were required to get this! Boy I can go on about my feelings about the ACA .. High monthly payments outrageous deductibles that must be met prior to insurance coverage taking effect. Ooh boy.. I wont even go there..

Now to the petitioning of parents..

My wife's parents thankfully will not be wanting their green card. They are too deeply rooted in their country and cant abandon everything there. They do have a 5 year tourist visa and wouldn't really need a green card. The whole idea of a green card is to live in America permanently so right now the tourist visa is fine. Besides I enjoy gong to Ecuador to visit her family for a few days then visiting my friends up in the mountains.

Last time you knew, Legal Permanent Residents were exempt from the Affordable Care Act??

Er...exactly when was it that you knew this?? The law is quite clear: unless a Resident is seeking an exception under certain defined hardships, low income, certain defined peculiar circumstances (the list of exceptions is long and applies identically to U.S. citizens by the way), then such a Resident is not exempt. Not at all.

Panem today, Panem tomorrow, Panem forever...

I have neither legal training nor immigration expertise; all comments posted must therefore be consumed in that vein.

My husband is going to apply for his Father. Then his Father will apply for his wife and his two sons.

Reason being is that the sons are 5 & 14 yrs old and the mom will not leave her boys to go and do this process with her husband. So the dad will do it first and then as a family he will finish up the process for his wife & sons.

They also have their life in their current country so they will come to visit and be with the grandkids not to permanently live.
