Hello All!

Our AOS interview is set for February 8th and I am trying to gather in advance, all the support documentation that we will need for the interview.

I have two questions that I encountered and can't find an answer to. Please, help!

1) The interview letter states that we need to bring our own interpreter to the interview, if we need one. My husband doesn't speak very good English, so, he will need an interpreter.

I assume that I can't qualify for the role of an interpreter since I am his wife and they request my presence at the interview. My question is, can I bring my brother-in-law to be an interpreter? Will he qualify, or is he still considered a relative?

2) Second question is that we did not choose to have a joint account when we got married. Is this a crucial evidence of our marriage?

We were thinking to open a joint savings account in another bank and just put some money in it, but continue to use our separate accounts. Is this a good idea? Is there a minimum that has to be in a joint account? Can a check with the both of our names on it work as evidence, or we have to bring in a statement?

I didn't change my last name, so it is one less piece of evidence. We DO have our rental agreement and our utilities bills with the both of our names on it. But apart from our marriage certificate, pictures etc. - this is it. Will this be enough? What would you advise?

I appreciate your help very much! This site helped me greatly! Thank you!
