Its been a long journey for my wife to get her visa, almost 3 years. She had her interview at the US consulate on Feb 27 and was approved for her visa to US at interview. Now its March 18, and still no status update only that the Visa is being processed. ?

I never though this would happen but now the consular has denied her visa a week after she got her pink slip.

Now they say I dont have enough income or assets, that I need a sponsor!

On the Affidavit of Support I showed a income loss for the year 2012. I was in Vietnam for 5 months in 2011 and 9 months in 2012. I invested about $40,000 into a business and because of all the start-up costs reflected a income loss for that year. But I had for 2011 income I still had income of over $35,000 on tax transcript. This year I decided to hold off on the business and get a regular job. This job is $54,000 a year, plus I own a home with equity over $50,000. But I have only W-2s and 1099s from last year, but still enough income to prove support. Plus I send support money to her every month.

Its very frustrating to know you should easily qualify without a sponsor, but how do I prove it? Anyone have a similar situation?

Really sorry to hear your situation. What was your income for 2013? If 2013 meets the spec in terms of $ then did you do your 2013 Tax? That could be your ticket out of this.

Worst case, can you use your mom or dad as a sponsor?

Thanks everyone! , I talked to a NVC person here in the states and he said I should have submitted a I864 regular, instead of a I864EZ. Looks as if they didnt even look at the fact of my current job, just that I had no income for 2012. He suggested that I send in a I864 regular and include my assets plus current job information. Also my parents (mother) will co-sponcer and submit a I864A. Even though their retired, their savings and cash is substantial.

I am concerned just how long this will delay her visa. I plan to FedEx these documents to her, she should have by the 3/27. Has anyone had any experience of having to submit more documents after receiving a pink slip. How long will her Visa be in administrative processing, AP?
