Please help

I know I've read alot that it's not necessary to have a roundtrip ticket for K1 and k2.My fiance and I are fighting over it cause he calls the travel agency and tells him it's a must and the tickets are now $ 2,300 something for me and son, plus they have more few hundred dollars things that must be paid at the same time. This is crazy. Please help

Questions,

is it really okay to travel with just one way ticket?won't we have trouble?

What airline offers cheaper please really need the cheapest ticket possible we are trying to get a flight from manila to denver colorado.

thank's in advance

Drop that agency and find another one that knows how to deal with a K1/K2; or book yourself. Most likely you will be able to find better fares on your own

You need to purchase whatever is the least expensive, often a one-way costs more; but that is in US airlines; many times (but not always) a non-US will have the one-way at about half the round trip.

One alternative, that I've used myself is using frequent flyer miles. With that, my wife came from Poland on a one-way for about

$100 total

It is possible that the lowest prices are on Tuesdays/Wednesdays, and off season. A 2-stopover would be less expensive than direct; but you would have to acount for long layovers that might need an overnight somewhere.

I might also look into flights to Mexico/Canada even Central America with another segment into the US. You would want to look into countries for which Ph destinations are popular as they would have lower fares.

Good luck

Why book through an agency? In all my travels, I have never used an agency.

Book directly with the air lines.

Because it is often cheaper through agencies such as Kayak, unless you are a frequesnt flyer and have miles built up with a particular airline which many people do not.

Buy whichever tickets are the cheapest.

If it's a one way, you're fine.

If it's a return, remember to call the airline and cancel the return portion of the ticket AFTER you have arrived in the US. Ask for them to send you confirmation so you can prove that it wasn't used. Sometimes they will refund a return leg and sometimes they won't.

Most European countries have ridiculously priced one way tickets so we always buy a return ticket and cancel the return leg.

Philippines is an Asian country. I have never found a round trip ticket to or from the Philippines to be cheaper than a one way ticket, at least between there and Hawaii or West Coast USA.

Thank you all guys for the reply, we will see what we can do now.

Regarding the first time immigrant discount they don't have anything like that maybe it was long time ago ?

You are correct. The airlines almost laughed at me when I asked if they had a first time immigrant discount, they said "what!?" I think that was a long time ago when airlines gave a ####### about us. Now they could care less. There is no service in the airlines anymore and flying sucks, even first class!

Ticket will be expensive only if you purchase close to date. My husband purchased mine 2 weeks prior to my departure from Philippines delta airlines and it costs us $1400+ one way Phil-Charleston, WV.

How do you get a frequent flyer miles?

How does it work?

Regarding the discount of first tome immigrant , yes it is ridiculous if you ask that to any travel agency that must be long long time ago.Nobody knows that thing now.

Okay we got the ticket for $2000 something.
For both of us, my son is just 2 years old but how come there's no difference? There should be a discount for that, it doesn't make sense.

Thanks everyone for helping.

The most common way to get frequent flyer miles is to travel. Some people travel a lot, I mean a lot and can easily build up tens of thousand of miles in a year. In a prior job, I was flying cross country twice a week, for about a year...

A secondary way to get those is to use an airline branded CC that allows to duplicate miles when purchasing tickets with that card, it can also accrue miles on everyday purchases.

Now to get any half way decent international flight on miles, you need at least 30-40 thousand, most commonly 50-60 thousand.

And you have to see if the airline allows a one way based on miles. American and British Airways are two tthat allow that. In many other, you can only do a round trip. There are other creative ways to use miles, but:

Now is not the time to think about frequent flyers; the advice was only for a case in which there were already miles accrue, and I mean at least 30 thousand.

Depending on your travel plans, you might be able to get better fares on different dates, if you have the flexibility. I would also look into various ports of entry for better fares. Fares are not based on distance anymore; it is a matter of supply and demand.

For example, an airline with a plane in Manila needs to get it back and rather than flying it empty would have lower fares for a city where this plane would provide the best revenue. One example I ran into a few months ago: Flying direct Houston-Lima (South AMerica) was double the fare than flying Miami-Houston-Lima on the same airline and with the Houston-Lima segment in the same exact flight/plane/date as the direct Houston-Lima; totally ilogical you would think. It was actually cheaper to flight to Miami from Houston and then come right back and take the flight you would've taken.

As crazy as it might seem, it could be less expensive to fly Manila-Dallas, with maybe stopover in LA or San Francisco, than to fly Manila-LA or Manila-SF; you can of course get off in AL or SF and get on your way; but again, might be also less expensive a Dallas-Denver than a LA/SF-Denver.

FYI, Houston-Denver these days can be done for as littler as $50 one way.

Some airlines will give a 10% discount or more for children. No basis for it really - airline's costs are not appreciably different between an adult and an infant.

Some airlines allow 'infant in arms' which is no charge, but does not come with a seat - must hold baby which is likely a poor choice for such a long flight. Also, infant must be under a certain age, usually 2yo.
