When my wife (the beneficary) have her interview at Amman's consulate do I need to go with her? Is it possible the consulate may require me to attend and do they usually do that? I know it varies by consulate and I didn't find much on here about Amman. Just trying to plan for the future.

No you aren't required to be there, most consulates do not require the petitioner to attend. I attended, but it was my choice to go with my husband.

Thanks for the info. I asked because I got married 3 months after my divorce was final so I thought they might have questions about my previous marriage.

They may have such questions, but you would be wise to make sure your new wife is able to answer them for herself.

like I said it isn't a requirement. If you feel your wife cannot answer the questions regarding your previous marriage it might be a good idea to attend Edited by mimolicious

I think that the interview can go any way. Sometimes they have no questions about the relationship because they are happy with the I-130 (like in my case), and sometimes they want to inquire more.

I agree with mimolicious and pushbrk, if you have a solid case and think she can answer the questions, it shouldn't be a problem. At the same time, if you have the opportunity to be there, it might be reassuring for your wife.

My opinion is that whether you attend or not, make sure your wife CAN answer any and all questions about you, your life, job, and family, including any questions about your former spouse and the circumstances of your divorce. This is normal interview preparation. If you married somebody in your home town, you can be she would know all this. That's what is expected.

Thank you all. My wife should be able to answer everything I just didn't know if they going to require me to attend or not necessarily. I'm thinking about taking trip to Jordan but I don't want to go visit then few months later have to go back to be at the interview.

From experience interviewing in Amman, the CO asked me more questions than he asked of my husband, I was the petitioner. He was more interested in my divorce from my ex husband than he was the relationship with my now husband. Go figure...Everyone at the consulate from the guards at the gate to the woman who took the paperwork, the CO and the man at the Aramex office were more than accommodating, helpful, kind and professional, I only have good things to say. There is no need for you or your wife to be nervous or intimidated. Good luck!

Thank you. You have been very helpful to me. Wondering why they were concerned about your divorce. Did you marry shortly after your divorce was final? You don't have to answer it just curious because that's what I did.

Again thanks and enjoy your surprise trip to Jordan. I might be going this summer as well if my I130 doesn't move.

Yes, my divorce was final only a few months before I got remarried. But my ex husband and I were legally separated for several years before the divorce was final. Good luck with the interview and please keep me updated. I like to know how other people from Jordan do. I love Jordan and the people of Jordan!
