I guess the only thing I really have to say on the subject is this.

It seems odd to me that crimean polls from the past were never solidly for independence or russian annexation. And yet suddenly this month the vote is 96%? I'm sorry but from a sociological perspective its does not seem possible. Therefore I must assume fraud.

Well, the people of Crimea did just see a government that they supported strongly get thrown out of power through violent means. Imagine if liberals took over Washington DC through violent means and threw out all of the conservatives. Don't you think that the Texas succession movement would suddenly get stronger? When people see that a government no longer represents them, they tend to not want it to represent them (especially when they think that government is illegitimate).

You know the only reason sanctions are in place is to protect the next presidential race. It does not matter how limp they are....... the press will provide cover.

Obama? He is not the president of the Ukraine, not is he the CIC of the Ukrainian army. I am not sure what anyone wants the US to do in this situation.

That exchange was nowhere near as one-sided as most people remember. The US withdrew their Thor missiles from stations in the UK and Turkey, so it was a pretty even trade.

The US just made more of a fuss over Cuba.
